FIRST CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH

WELCOME TO FIRST HULL As we gather, we pray, “Holy God, receive our worship, offered to the glory of your name. Amen.” A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement. 

BAPTISM: Art & Anna Dirksen and Jon & Nicole Van Berkum have requested the sacrament of baptism for their infant children, Rebecca Ann and Cohen Jesse. Baptism will take place next Sunday morning.

THIS EVENING we welcome Barry Miedema as he leads our evening worship service.

LADIES who would like to help at JFA on Tuesday, April 12, should meet in the upper parking lot at 12:45p.

CHOIR will have their regular rehearsal next week Sunday morning, April 17th. We will sing during the April 17th evening service.

CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP will have their last meeting next week Sunday evening. Lesson 5. Lunch: Arlene Van’t Hul & Lois Salazar. We hope to have a good turn out as this is the meeting we have election of new officers for next year.

BETH MOORE OPEN HOUSE is Tues., April 12. 6:30p fellowship with lunch and beverage; 7:00p a 45 minute video on “The Biblical Not Political Reasons for Holy Wars in our Troubled World”. BOYDEN-HULL School District & Sioux County Sheriff’s Office presents “Things Parents Should Know About Digital Communication & Social Media” Wed., April 13, at 7:00p at the Boyden-Hull High School.

THE CITY is looking for volunteers to help at East Side Park to put playground equipment together starting at 8:00a on April 15. If you stay long enough, lunch will be provided by the Chamber of Commerce!

IT’S TIME TO GET READY for Cave Quest VBS June 6-9: Following Jesus the light of the World! There are a variety of ways that you can help make Vacation Bible School a success. We are in need of Crew Leaders (high school age-adult). We also need donations. Be looking for a sheet in your church mailbox that lists the items you can donate. Registration forms for your child(ren) will also be in your mailbox or on the back table. VBS is for kids going into Kindergarten -5th grade (fall of 2016). Please contact Rachel Bolkema or Bobbie Kroese if you have any questions.

COMMUNITY BULLETIN

FIRST CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS:    

We extend our Christian sympathy to Rob & Donna Fedders and family in the passing of Rob’s sister, Jeanette Kleinwolterink, on Monday, April 4th. Funeral services were held Friday in the Doon URC.

LeRoy Jongetjes continues to recover from knee surgery at Pleasant Acres.

Lindsey Pfingsten is recovering well from a recent procedure. John and Lindsey are thankful for all your prayers and concern.

Anna Dirksen’s sister, Elaine, continues to show signs of improvement. She is now at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln. Keep her and her family in your prayers.

Continue to remember Joyce Kroese in your prayers. Pray for continued strength and better health.

Continue to remember Gary Roetman in your prayers as he continues with chemo. Pray for strength and healing.

Remember Sam Scholten in your prayers as he serves our country at Fort Bragg.

HOPE CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS:    

Vicki Lammers’ mother Lucy Miedema, will be having surgery soon for an intestinal issue. We pray for a successful surgery and healing.

Jan Bakker continues her treatment for lymphoma. We give thanks with her that side effects have been minimal. We pray that the treatments are effective and for her continued strength.

We pray for Bev Altena as she continues to heal from knee replacement surgery.

Please keep Tasha Hulstein and her unborn child in your prayers as she remains on bed rest at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. She and baby are doing well. Please continue your prayers as she comes closer to her delivery date. Visits are welcome, but if you have any cold or flu symptoms, please wait until you are well. We keep her husband, Corey, and the rest of the family in our prayers as well.

We also continue to remember our members who reside in care facilities: Hermina Hulstein and Mary Grooters at Pleasant Acres, Marv Boon at Fieldcrest in Sheldon, and Harriet Kooiker at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City. We also pray for their families as they support them.

SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

   Western will host Grandparent’s Day Tues., April 12, at 9:30p. All grandparents of seniors are invited.

   Hull Christian School will be holding a Community Impact Night at the Hull Pizza Ranch on April 14 from 5-7:30p. The money raised will go towards the Technology Fund.

   Western Christian is conducting their annual spring drive. We would like to conclude this drive by April 20. Thank you in advance for your generous support of Western Christian.

   HCS Spring Carnival: April 23 from 11a-2p in the gym. There will be inflatable’s and games for the kids for FREE! Pizza, pop/Gatorade/water, & popcorn available for sale. Everyone is invited for fun and fellowship!

   HCS: Cupcake walk donations needed for the spring carnival on Sat., Apr. 23. We are asking for donations of cupcakes as prizes. You can bring them to school any time before April 22 or the morning of the carnival. Your help is greatly appreciated!

   Western Christian is seeking a host family for a student from South Korea who wants to attend Western next year. This particular student will be a 10th grade girl who speaks and writes English well, has a love for music, and hopes to become a music teacher. Hosting a student includes a stipend for the host family. If you would like more information or might be interested, please contact the office at Western at 439-1013.

MEMORY LOSS SUPPORT GROUP will meet Wed., April 13, at 1:00p at Whispering Heights.

CARY CHRISTIAN CENTER will be at Trinity CRC on Thursday evening, April 14th. The evening will begin with a catfish, fried chicken meal with all the fixin’s prepared by the staff of CCC. Serving starts at 6:00p. No reservations are necessary. A freewill gift will be taken.

SIOUX COUNTY ORATORIO CHORUS has been selected to join the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra on Sat., April 16, at 7:30p at the Orpheum Theatre in Sioux City. SCOC will then showcase 2 more masterworks at its home concert at Northwestern College’s Christ Chapel on Sat., April 30, at 7:30p. Tickets for the Orange City concert can be purchased at Northwestern box office, Dove Bookstore, True Vine, or Dordt music office.

MEMORY LOSS SUPPORT GROUP will meet Wed., April 20, at 1:00p at Royale Meadows. Megan Ten Clay, Funeral Director, will talk about funeral planning. RSVP to Ashley at 722-8157. Snacks provided.

HOPE HAVEN GOSPEL MUSIC CONCERT: Back by popular demand, the highly acclaimed southern gospel singing group, the Inspirations from Bryson City, NC will be presenting a benefit concert on Sat., April 23, at 6:30p in Dordt’s Auditorium. The concert will also feature the Journey Bound Quartet of Des Moines and the Triumphant Sound Quartet from Lawton. Tickets are $15 per person and sold at the door only. Doors open at 5:00p and the concert starts at 6:30p sharp! All proceeds benefit Hope Haven.

DORDT Football Spring Practice Finale is April 30. Bring your family for fun, food, and football! Festivities for all ages include raffles, field goal challenge, obstacle course, corn hole, and more. Festivities begin at 5:00p, tailgate at 5:30 and the Spring Practice Finale at 6. Cost for tailgate is $4. Admittance to the stadium
