WELCOME TO FIRST HULL On this summer day, we come to praise God and receive his word for us, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen. A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement. 

THIS MORNING Representatives from Hull Kids’ Club will be here to answer any questions you may have about the program. They will be in the back of church after the morning worship. Feel free to stop, chat and pick up a donation request slip or volunteer and student registration form. Donations should be returned to the Kids’ Club table here at church no later than September 4. Kids’ Club thanks you for your contributions and support for their program. It would not be a success without you! A DVD of the Kids’ Club ministry will be shown during the offertory.

THIS EVENING we welcome Barry Miedema as he leads our worship service. His message is from Mark 6:30-44 titled “Jesus Feeds the 5000”. Pastor Loren will be preaching at the Ocheyedan CRC this afternoon for the installation of their new pastor, Rev. Tom De Does. Rev. De Does and his wife Nancy come from the Christian Reformed Church in Quincy, Washington.

PASTOR LOREN will be on vacation through Monday, August 26th. In case of a special need, call your Care Group Elder.

PARENTS please keep watch of your young children after the services. Do not allow your young children to be in the balcony unattended.

Congratulations to Kyle and Shae Pollema on the birth of a daughter, Baylor Rae, born on Saturday, Aug. 10.

We extend our Christian sympathy to Harold & Leona Vander Vegte in the passing of Leona’s sister, Verna Mae Zonnefeld of Artesia, CA who passed away on Saturday, August 10, to Phil and Sherry Brummel in the passing of a sister-in-law, Paula Ribbens, wife of Larry of Orange City on Friday, August 9, and to Kyle & Becca Te Slaa in the passing of Becca’s grandfather, Edwin Dummer, of Plato, MN on August 11th.

Give thanks that the procedure that Pete Pollema had done in Omaha on Monday appears to have been successful. Pray that Pete will get his strength back.

Jarvis De Wild is scheduled for a CT scan on Thursday to decide the next step.  Pray for good results and wisdom for the doctors.

Heath Stoker had a smooth day of testing on Monday, Aug. 12. They will not receive results for a few weeks. Please pray for peace in this time of waiting.

Continue to remember Gary Roetman in your prayers. Pray that he will get stronger.

Electrodes implanted in Sharon Soodsma’s back last week were placed there on a trial basis. Permanent ones will be inserted in September. In the meantime, Sharon is experiencing a great deal of pain. Please pray for relief.

Give thanks that Jim Keizer is making good progress after his knee replacement surgery. Pray that physical therapy continues to go well and for a good recovery.

Shaina Hoekstra, granddaughter of Dave & Doris Van Beek, and daughter of Brian and Deanne Hoekstra, continues to be treated for a blood disorder and is receiving daily plasma exchanges.  We pray for progress and healing. Please pray for her family as they support her.

Lora Vis continues her recovery at home. Please pray that the grafts used to treat her burns heal and progress. We pray for patience and peace.

Gerrit Van Der Zwaag, father of Cal Van Der Zwaag, continues his recovery at the Sioux Center Hospital.  We pray for daily healing and progress. We also pray for encouragement and patience. We pray for Cal and family as they support him.

We pray for those dealing with illness, healing from injuries or illness, and for those who may be struggling emotionally. May God provide healing and wholeness.

We remember Marv Boon at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City. We pray for Eileen as well as she supports him. We also remember those who reside at home but aren’t able to join us from week to week. We also pray for their families as they support them.


      Western Christian High School invites you to attend Western’s semi-annual society meeting on Monday, August 19, at 7:00p in the Cafeteria at Western. All parents and friends of Western are encouraged to attend.


PLEASE BLESS Sioux Center MOPS by caring for children during meetings. We are looking for volunteers for the 2019-2020 season.  Please contact Vanessa Steiger at (712) 463-2004 if you are willing to help (background check required). Meetings are the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month, and we would appreciate the hours of 8:45-11:15a. Ages range from newborn to preschool. MOPS runs from September-May.

ROCK VALLEY MOPS is starting soon! MOPS runs the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of every month from Sept.-April and is for any mother with children ages pregnancy-Kindergarten! Come join us for fellowship, mentoring and some fun activities! Our first meeting is at 9:00a on September 11th at Trinity CRC in Rock Valley. LOVE INC LOVE & LEARN fall class session will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 3rd! We will be offering 4 classes to the Sioux County community at large: Parenting, Grief Share, Faith & Finances (practical money management skills with optional mentorship) and Affirming Potential (personal evaluation of physical, emotional, relational and spiritual areas of life). A fifth class, Redemptive Compassion, will be specifically offered to church members, leaders and anyone interested in exploring how we can offer help that ultimately brings freedom rather than enables people to remain in a constant state of need. We’ll explore together what it means to offer charity compassion hand in hand with developmental compassion.  Register by August 26, by calling the Love INC office at 476-5990.

JFA Annual Fall Auction & Picnic will take place Thursday, Sept 5, at the Ministry Center. Supper will begin serving at 5:30p and the live Auction will begin at 6:30p. NISO AUDITIONS: Auditions for membership in the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra (NISO) will be held on Friday, Sept. 6 (Winds & Percussion) and Sat. Sept. 7 (strings). Anyone wishing to play in the orchestra for the first time must audition, and all student members need to re-audition each year. AUDITIONS for membership in the Northwest Iowa Symphony Youth Orchestra will be held on Sat. morning, Sept. 7.
