WELCOME TO FIRST HULL: We gather in the name of our heavenly Father, Jesus our Savior and the life-giving Spirit. Amen

THIS MORNING Addyson Lorayne Vant Hul, infant daughter of Zach and Ashley, will receive the sacrament of baptism.

THE NURSERY and surrounding rooms are available to parents with small children who need to take them out of the sanctuary. There will not be a nursery staff and toys will not be available.

THE EVANGLISM COMMITTEE will meet today at 5:00p in the Youth Building.

THIS EVENING Pastor Loren’s message is from Acts 28:11-31 titled “The Story Continues”.

HULL GEMS POOL PARTY is Monday, August 10, 7:00-8:30p at the Hull Pool. 2nd-8th graders are invited to attend. We hope to see many of the GEMS there.

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS are needed for the coming season. Call Henry Kats (589-9734) if you are willing to help out or would like more information. Plans are for Sunday School to begin on Sept. 20th.

THE SHARE GROUP for widows and widowers will meet on Thursday, August 20th, at 6:00p at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 3 miles north and 2 miles east of Hull. We will enjoy taverns, coney dogs, and sides for supper. Root beer floats will be served for dessert. If you had not volunteered to bring food, please consider bringing $5 to help cover expenses. Following our meal, we will enjoy a travel video. Call Deanna Tiedeman (439-2229) or Pastor Aaron (605-742-4469) with any questions.

CANCELLATION: The team at Bible League International has recommended that we cancel all September  conference events due to pandemic concerns. Therefore, the Spreading the Fragrance of Life events on September 14&15 in Sioux Center have been cancelled.

THANK YOU: We would like to thank you for your prayers, cards, word of encouragement and other acts of kindness in the loss of my father and grandfather. Also thank you to our care groups for the flowers and plaque and to Pastors Klompien and Kotman and Elder Merlyn Kroese and Linda for their calls and visits. THANK YOU: We thank God for the support and prayers given during our time of loss in the death of brother John Vis. Thanks for the cards and words of comfort from so many in our congregation.  We have experienced the fellowship of a church that truly reaches out to those who need comfort and encouragement. COMMUNITY BULLETIN

FIRST CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS:  

We extend our Christian sympathy to Greg & Teresa Vanden Bosch in the passing of Greg’s dad, Marvin Vanden Bosch of Rock Valley who passed away on Friday, July 31. We also extend our sympathy to all of his grandchildren who are members of this church. May God comfort them in their sorrow.

Continue to remember Ted Salazar in your prayers as he recovers from shoulder surgery.

Gary is still struggling with dehydration and shortness of breath. His lungs have been drying up and the last catheter will be removed in a few weeks! That will be such a blessing! On Tuesday he will receive his 4th infusion of Immune Therapy! Pray that this treatment will help Gary’s Immune System fight the cancer! We are so thankful for all the prayers, cards, calls and the support we receive! We truly feel God’s presence as we face each day! – Gary & Susan

Give thanks that Joyce De Vries was discharged from the hospital on Monday.  Pray for continued healing and for encouragement. 

Remember all those in our congregation who are confined to their homes as well as those in nursing homes or in assisted living as they are unable to have visitors at this time due to COVID-19. This is a difficult time for them so a phone call or a note from members of the congregation would be appreciated!

Give thanks that surgery went well for LeRoy Jongetjes on Friday, July 31. Pray for relief from pain and for healing.

Give thanks that Peg Visser is making good progress. Pray for continued healing.  

Give thanks that Roto cuff surgery went well for Jay Stellinga on July 24. He will begin physical therapy on August 24. Pray for healing.

HOPE CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS

We continue to keep Sherry Kooiker, Bev Altena, Sylvia Eekhoff, and Donna Hoekstra in our prayers as they continue their recovery from recent surgeries. We pray for their strengthening.

We continue to pray for those who are recovering from Covid-19 or have family members that are dealing with this illness. We pray for their healing.

We keep Doug De Groot’s brother, Daryl De Groot, in our prayers as he continues his recovery from surgery to deal with infections.

We continue to pray for Joyce De Vries, Judy Bonestroo and Lee De Groot’s mother, who continues her recovery from C-Diff and an UTI. We pray for her healing and her encouragement.

Gary Roetman, father of Matt Roetman, continues to be treated for cancer. We pray he responds well to treatment and for healing. We pray for his wife, Susan, and family as they support him.

We pray for our families. Some have significant challenges in their lives for a variety of reasons. Let us pray for peace, stability, healing, and restoration.

We pray for those who join us in worship from their homes. Whether they are unable to attend or are taking appropriate precautions due to age or illness, we pray for the Lord’s presence and care in their lives.

   Western Christian Booster Club golf tournament is Friday, August 14, in Sioux Center. The cost to golf is $100/person and includes golf, cart, and a meal.    HCS Biannual Society Meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 19, at 7:00p in the gym. A copy of the agenda/budget for the Society Meeting is in local mailboxes or available in the school office.

REQUESTED ANNOUNCEMENTS

FUNDRAISER: A number of BHES staff and parents have organized a community fundraiser for the Van Meeteren family on Wednesday, August 12, from 5-7p at the Westside Park Shelter House in Hull. Carter, a kindergarten student received a heart transplant on June 14th in Iowa City. We will be serving pork burgers, chips, cookies/bars, and a drink in conjunction with the Sioux County Pork Producers.

FOSTER (CLASSROOM) GRANDPARENT PROGRAM is in need of volunteers to serve 5-40 hours a week and assist students at local schools, Head Starts and non-profit daycares. Volunteers will be trained with precautions, be given necessary equipment for safety, and if need be, will have the opportunity to connect with the classroom online or via phone. Anyone who is interested in starting their new normal as a Foster (Classroom) Grandparent, contact the Foster Grandparent office at 476-2628 or www.rvrseniorvolunteerprograms.org. They will walk you through the process.

LOVE INC’S FALL SESSION of Love & Learn classes are starting Tuesday, August 25, at Trinity CRC in Rock Valley. We will be offering the following classes: Faith & Finance, Grief Share-support group, Parenting, Affirming Potential and Redemptive Compassion. Love INC is looking for volunteers who are willing to serve in various capacities – greeting, making a snack for class nights, childcare and Faith & Finance mentors.
