FIRST CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH

December 1, 2019

WELCOME TO FIRST HULL I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!” (Psalm 122:1, ESV). May we, too, find joy in worshiping God. A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship, cake, & coffee after the morning service in the church basement.

THIS MORNING the children of Wilma Grevengoed will be serving cake to the congregation in honor of Wilma’s 85th birthday, which is December 3.

SUNDAY SCHOOL/CATECHISM classes will not be meeting this morning.

THIS EVENING we welcome Ben Wiersma as he leads our service. His message is from I Corinthians 12:12-31 titled “We All Have a Part”.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING will be held on Monday at 7:00p. The agenda and budget are in your church mailbox.

NEXT SUNDAY we will partake of the Lord’s Supper. Let us use this week to reflect on the Lord’s great love for us and pray that this may bring us to respond in joy and obedience. Anyone who is home bound and would like to partake of communion should contact Ed Haveman (441-2907) or Merlyn Kroese (439-2159).

PLEASE NOTE: Christmas letters are acceptable to send to Matt Starkenburg. No cards are accepted, along with no labels, stickers or tape, colored envelopes or colored paper, or postcards. His correct address is: Matthew Starkenburg #4721; Sioux Falls Community Work Center; 1600 N. Drive; Sioux Falls, SD 57117.

ATTENTION CHURCH FAMILY: We are asking for your help with our church’s Guatemala Mission Project. In addition to prayer and financial support, there are many items that we need to collect for this project. A list has been provided in your church mailboxes. Extra copies will be available on the back table. Please place your donations in the box provided in the narthex. We THANK YOU in advance for your support and blessing “the least of these” with these everyday gifts that we take for granted.

CHRISTIAN ED BAKE SALE is scheduled for Saturday, December 7, from 9:00a-2:00p in the Community Building. All church families are requested to bring two or more items. Please label and price your baked goods according to the price guidelines placed in your mailbox and bring them to the Community Building between 7:45 and 9:00a on December 7 or to the church kitchen on Friday, December 6. Thank you in advance for helping our church’s Christian Education Fund!

LADIES: We will be making fudge for prisoners on Thursday, December 12, at 6:30p in the church basement. You are requested to bring a couple of 9”x13” pans along if you can. All other supplies will be furnished.

THE OFFICE OF SYNODICAL SERVICES is in the process of nominating young adult representatives to the annual synod meeting held June 12-18 on the campus of Calvin University. If you’re an adult between the ages of 18-26 and would like to experience the CRC Synod contact Larry Hoekstra for additional information (712-261-1403). The Canadian Ministries Headquarters of the CRCNA which is located in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, would like to have them as a resource. They are able to take the copies from Grant Rapids to Burlington, but would like someone to be able to transport them from Western to the denominational offices in Grand Rapids. There are several copies so you would need plenty of room in your vehicle to move them. If interested, please contact Pastor Todd Zuidema from Hope CRC. His email is tddzdm@gmail.com.
