FIRST CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH

December 22, 2019

WELCOME TO FIRST HULL Amid these busy days, we pause for worship and to remember the heart of this season. Welcome! A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement.

TO MINIMIZE the spreading of germs during this cold and flu season, we will cease shaking hands until the middle of March. Elders & Pastor will greet you after the service today, but not shake your hand. Greeters will be available prior to the service, but after this morning they will not shake your hand.

CHOIR will meet this morning (Sunday) in the sanctuary at 8:45 to rehearse “Breath of Heaven”. We will also rehearse after the morning service with the kids, ages 1st – 6th grade and clarinets. The kids will join in singing “Angels We Have Heard on High” with the choir. We will perform this hymn on Christmas Day.

SUNDAY SCHOOL/CATECHISM classes will NOT meet again until January 5.

PLEASE NOTE: Our second service today will be at 3:00p. We will have a service of Lessons and Carols.

REMINDER of the donation box in the narthex for the Guatemala mission project. A list of needed items is on the back table. Thanks for your help in blessing the “least of these”.

DAD’S BELGIUM WAFFLE BREAKFAST: Please come out on January 1st for the annual YPS Dad’s Belgium Waffle breakfast. We will be serving from 9:00a-12:00 noon. Come out and enjoy the delicious waffles with your favorite syrup flavors as well as the tasty sausages.

NOTE: Do you have a Bible that you are not using? A Church History class at Western Christian High School is collecting Bibles for Keystone Recovery Center. Keystone hands out 50 Bibles a month. The Recovery Bible or newer versions that are easy to read are especially useful. Bibles may be placed in the box on the narthex table.

STUDENTS preparing for ministry in the Christian Reformed Church from Classis Heartland may apply for aid to assist them in their study for the 2020-2021 academic years by contacting Rev. Loren Kotman; 1111 5th Street; Hull, IA 51239; (712) 439-1123; pastor@hull1stcrc.com. The deadline is February 1, 2020.

ATTENTION: Men who love to sing and have a passion for the work of Hope Haven, please consider joining the Valley Male Chorus. Rehearsals will begin January 5, 2020 at 2:00p at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. For more information, contact Ron Boote at 712-441-5225 or rjboote@premieronline.net.

REQUESTED ANNOUNCMENTS

THE “NAMI” SUPPORT GROUP will meet in the Fireside Room of Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center from 7-9p on Tuesday, Jan. 7. Jeanne Kleinhesselink and Hannah Buteyn of Sioux Center Health will discuss EMDR and Medication Management. Individuals and family members living with mental illness are welcome. For information, call Shirley Matheis 722-4462.

HEGG HEALTH CENTER is sponsoring a Pink Out Night on Tues., Jan. 21, during the Western vs. Estherville basketball games! The reason we host annual pink out nights is because people relate pink to breast cancer. Cancer doesn’t care who you are, what you look like, how old you are or where you live. We wonder how we can help – this evening is for just that: raising awareness about cancer and prevention against cancer. Free popcorn will be served at the concessions stand for all fans during both Girls and Boys basketball games, courtesy of Hegg Health Center. We encourage fans to wear pink or purchase a 2019 Pink Out T-shirt! Short and long Sleeve T-shirts are available for purchase online: https://western-christian-pinkout-2020.itemordercom/sale. Orders are due Dec. 16th. T-shirts will be delivered to your selected location about a week before the game. Proceeds from all t-shirts benefit technology upgrades within the Hegg Health Center Radiology department.
