WELCOME TO FIRST HULL In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we welcome you to worship, that together we may be wrapped in God’s Word, love and grace. A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement. 

 

REMINDER: We have ceased all handshake greeting until the middle of March. Greeters will still be available prior to the service to welcome you and Elders will greet you after the service, but will NOT shake your hand.

 

BAPTISM: This morning Raelyn Beth Koedam, infant daughter of Jacob and Abby, and Abigail Rose Kiers, infant daughter of Cody & Shelby, will receive the sacrament of baptism.

 

THIS EVENING Pastor Loren’s message is from Acts 15:1-35 titled “Handling Church Conflict”.

 

MEN’S SOCIETY: Due to scheduling conflicts, Men’s Society has been moved up one week to February 20th. We will do Lesson 9. This will be our final meeting for the season.

 

YOU ARE INVITED: CORNERSTONE PRISON CHURCH, a CRC church located inside the walls of the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls, has invited Hull 1st CRC to worship with them at 6:00p on Friday, March 15. SIOUX COUNTY YOUTH WORSHIP NIGHT for junior high-high school students will be held on Wed., Feb. 20, from 6-8:00p. The event is FREE of charge. Pizza served in the Campus Center along with games and a time to get to know students from other churches from 6:00-6:40; 6:45-8:00 will be a time of games, worship, and teaching in the BJ Haan Auditorium. THE SHARE GROUP for widows & widowers will meet on Thurs., Feb. 21, at noon at Homestead Commons in Hull. Melissa Beyer will cater. You are asked to bring $10 to help offset the cost of the lunch. UPDATE FROM THE CHRISTIAN ED. COMMITTEE: to date we have received $189,000 which is just past halfway towards our commitment of $375,000. We are thankful for everyone’s support thus far this year. We have 5 months remaining to make our goal. With everyone’s help we can do it! Please check out the flyer in your church mailbox regarding our summer mowing project.

 

FAMILY FAITH FORMATION MINI-WORKSHOP: Research points to parents as the most significant religious influence in the faith lives of kids. What are we doing as churches to support faith formation in the home and what resources are out there for parents to help them find their own rhythm of talking about faith with their kids? Join us as we explore ways for church to support parents and parents to support their kids in growing faith at home. This workshop will be held Sat., Feb. 23, from 9:30-11:00a in the Sioux Center Christian School - Orchestra Room (entrance is on the north side of the building). There is no charge for the workshop but you must RSVP by Feb. 20th. SAVE THE DATE:  Wed., Feb. 27, GEMS and Cadets will be holding their annual Supper and Pinewood Derby Race at HCS. Supper will be served from 5:30-7:00p with the races starting at 7:00p.

 

ELDER/DEACON REGIONAL TRAINING EVENT will be held on Wed., Feb. 27, from 7-9p at the Dordt Ag Stewardship Center on Highway 75. Current elders and deacons, past elders and deacons, future elders and deacons and anyone who is interested in learning more are invited to this leadership training event. We are planning to have a main session with all of the elders and deacons focusing on the principles of “Adoptive & Operational Leadership”. There will also be two 50-minute breakout sessions. One will be about practical diaconal work lead by Andy Ryskamp, the director of the Diaconal Ministry Initiative of the CRCNA. The second session will be regarding the work of an elder lead by Pastor Dave Den Haan from CRCNA Pastor Church Resources. Those who attend the event will be able to choose one breakout session. EASTER CANTATA: “It Is Finished”. We are excited to once again be organizing this wonderful worship event for our Hull Community – Easter Sunday evening, April 21. Voices from Junior High & older are encouraged to be a part of this fantastic community choir!! Rehearsals will start Sunday, March 3, from 3:00-4:00p at Hope CRC. COMMUNITY BULLETIN

FIRST CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS:   

  • We extend our Christian sympathy to Lee & Donna Van Grouw and Curt in the passing of Lee’s stepfather, Rev. Andrew Bandstra of Grand Rapids.
  • The CT scan that Gary Roetman had in Omaha on Monday, February 11, showed a nodule. Lab tests showed the liver numbers were elevated. The plan is to stop treatment for chemo and begin doing Immune Therapy on Monday to build his immune system. Pray for better health.
  • Wilmar Pollema continues with chemo treatment. Give thanks that the numbers for his multiple myeloma have gone down. Pray that continues.
  • Russ Vander Schaaf will be hospitalized at the VA Hospital for another 4-5 weeks for the infection he has. Pray for better health.
  • Duane Vande Griend continues with cancer treatment. Give thanks that a recent PET SCAN showed the cancer treatment is being effective.
  • Heath Stoker is recovering from Influenza A, but was able to return to work on Wednesday. Please continue to pray for good health and building of his immune system.
  • Lisa Wiersma finished her last cancer treatment last Friday. The plan is to remove the port this coming Friday. Pray that the procedure goes well.
  • Pray for our shut ins: PA: Chuck & Darlene Kroese, Sally De Groot, Florence Kroese; Aspen Heights: Joyce De Vries, Julianne Kats, Harry Klay, Goldie Veldman; Fieldcrest in Sheldon: Verne Huisman, Esther Rozeboom: in her son’s home; Good Samaritan Society in George: Wilma Altena; Ardelle Westra: S. HOPE CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS: 

  • Sydney Stiemsma had hip surgery this past Wednesday to repair a torn labrum. The surgery went well and she continues her recovery at home. We pray for healing and a quick recovery.
  • Joan Buyert continues her recovery at Royale Meadows in Sioux Center. Please pray for her strength, wisdom and encouragement.
  • Cruise De Groot continues his deployment to the Middle East. Please pray for his health, safety and encouragement.
  • We remember Marv Boon at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City. We also remember those who reside at home but aren’t able to join us from week to week. We also pray for their families as they support them.

SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

      HCS is accepting applications for a middle school teacher. This individual will be responsible for teaching mostly language arts classes. The position can be either part-time or full-time. Applications can be found on our webpage (www.hullchristian.com) or by contacting school.       Little Blessings Pre-School Registration: HCS will be having an informational night and registration for Little Blessings Pre-School the evening of Feb. 21, from 6:30-7:30p. Mrs. Boer will be making a presentation at 7:00 regarding the daily activities of pre-school. You can pre-register using the form found on our webpage (www.hullchristian.com) under the heading Forms and Documents. This pre-registration form will be posted on February 20 at 6:00p.       Western Christian High School invites you to attend Western’s semi-annual society meeting on Thursday, February 21, at 7:00p in the cafeteria at Western. All parents and friends of Western are encouraged to attend.
