WELCOME TO FIRST HULL Brothers and sisters, grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus. Welcome to this time of worship. A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement. 

REMINDER: We have ceased all handshake greetings until the end of February. Greeters will still be available prior to the service to welcome you and Elders will greet you after the service, but will NOT shake your hand.

THIS MORNING we will witness the sacrament of baptism of Keaton Stoker, infant son of Heath & Kayla and Tatum De Groot, infant daughter of Rick & Tonya.

REMINDER: The back 8 benches in church are reserved for families with small children.

GUATEMALA MISSION PROJECT UPDATE: For those who are interested in the Guatemala Mission Project this June 3-10, we will be having a brief meeting this morning following the morning worship service in the front of the sanctuary.

THIS EVENING Pastor Loren’s message is from Matthew 6:5-15 titled “How to Pray”.

NEXT SUNDAY MORNING we will witness the baptism of Bryson Bonestroo, infant son of Devin and Kate Bonestroo.

VOLUNTEER DRIVERS are willing to take anyone who needs a ride to their doctor’s appointment. Call your Care Group Elder or Karen (439-1626) if you would like to use this available service.

SALT AND LIGHT will be starting a new Bible study—Spiritual Gifts—in February. Men meet the first Sunday of the month in the council room after the evening service and women meet the second Sunday of the month. If you are interested in joining this study, contact Ben or Lisa Wiersma (

“SHARE” GROUP for widows/widowers will meet Thurs., Jan. 19, at 6:00p at Homestead Commons in Hull. Soup & cinnamon rolls will be served. We will have ice cream and toppings for dessert. The CBS Women’s Trio from Sanborn will provide entertainment. Contact Deanna Tiedeman at 439-2229 with questions.

OUR CHURCH is responsible for the service at Pleasant Acres Thurs. evening, Feb. 2. We have special music and a pianist, but are looking for someone who would like to share a special message with our senior citizens. Please contact Tim Kats if you would like to offer your gifts of sharing God’s message to our senior citizens.

CORNERSTONE PRISON CHURCH is asking for donations of yarn. The inmates at the South Dakota State Penitentiary have the opportunity to knit hats for children in need. Yarn can be dropped off in the office at 1st Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

DORDT: A day to inspire, encourage, and equip God’s people for ministry, Day of Encouragement, will take place Sat., Feb. 4, at Dordt. This year’s keynote speaker is Ed Stetzer. Day of Encouragement offers a variety of breakout sessions focusing on family, worship, youth, tech media, preaching, & shepherding. Early bird registration is available at until Jan. 24 for individuals. If you are interested in attending, please register online and then turn in a receipt to the office and the church will reimburse you for the cost.

THANK YOU: We would like to thank the congregation for remembering us with prayers, cards, and words of encouragement in the loss of our dad and grandpa. A special thanks to Pastor Kotman, Larry Wielenga, Ted Salazar, and Henry Kats for their visits and phone calls. Also, thank you to each of our Care Groups for the memorial gifts and for the meal provided for our family after visitation. Ÿ  We extend our Christian sympathy to the family of Bette Marra who passed away on Thursday, Jan. 5th. May God comfort them in their loss.

Ÿ  Anthony Smit was admitted to the Sioux Center Hospital on Thursday night for observation due to shortness of breath and weakness. Pray for healing.

Ÿ  Phil Brummel was released from Avera McKennan Hospital on Thursday and is making progress. Continue to pray for healing.

Ÿ  Maria Kotman’s PET SCAN revealed no significant information such that the doctors have any leads to pursue from the scan. Doctors however are pursuing other possibilities. Maria is scheduled to have her tonsils out on Thursday, but doctors do not believe this is related to her other health issues. Thanks for your continued prayers.

Ÿ  Give thanks that a CT scan for Gary Roetman last week showed no visible evidence of cancer.

Ÿ  Eldon De Wild went for a consultation at the VA Hospital on Tuesday. He is scheduled for a heart test in Minneapolis on February 2. Pray that God will open the doors for a heart and lung transplant.

Ÿ  Pray for our shut ins: Audrey Jongetjes, Florence Kroese, Gert Zevenbergen, and Melvin Van Otterloo at Pleasant Acres; Wilma Altena, Julianne Kats, Esther Rozeboom, Goldie Veldman, and Anthony Smit at Aspen  Heights; Don Westra in his home, Sally De Groot at Landsmeer Ridge Community in Orange City, and Ardelle Westra in Sioux City.


Ÿ  We pray for continued healing and strength for Dave Mulder, brother in law to Mike and Merideth Van Otterloo. We keep Henk Pastoor, father of Vanessa Steiger, in our prayers as he prepares for surgery related to colon cancer.

Ÿ  Mary Grooters continues under the care of hospice. We pray for God’s care and comfort for Mary and for her family.

Ÿ  We remember our members who reside in care facilities: Mary Grooters at Pleasant Acres, Marv Boon at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City, and Evelyn Dykstra in Byron Center Manor in Byron Center, MI. We also pray for their families as they support them.    


THE ANNUAL MIK Youth Winter Retreat will be held at Swan Lake outside Viborg, SD from Feb. 17-19. The theme is “Just Be” with speaker Pastor Fuzz Floyd and Praise Team Ariel Gomes + Friends. Deadline for registrations is Jan. 25th. There is a limit of registrations that will be taken this year due to constructions onsite. Registrations are available from your Youth Leaders. DORDT COLLEGE will hold 2 Dordt Writer events in January to celebrate the work of 2 Dordt College authors. Monday, Jan. 16, Football Coach Joel Penner will present about his book “Coaching the RPO Offense”. On Friday, Jan. 20, Dr. Leah Zuidema will present her book “Coaching Teacher-Writers: Practical Steps to Nurture Professional Writing”. Both presentations are in the Library Study Café at 11:00a.

CHRISTIAN WOMEN’S brunch will be held on Wed., Jan. 18, at 9:15a at the Whispering Heights Senior Center. Brunch is $4.00. Reservations necessary! Call Winifred at 712-470-5549.

DORDT COLLEGE Music Department invites you to hear Soprano Julianna Emanski, who will give a guest performance on Friday, Jan. 27, at 7:30p in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

THE NORTHWEST IOWA Symphony Orchestra Guest Concert will occur on Saturday, Feb. 4, with a performance by the Lark Quartet at 7:30p in Dordt’ Auditorium. Advance tickets are available at True Vine Bookstore in Sioux Center and Jubon Juweelen in Orange City. Tickets may also be purchase at the door the night of the concert. LOVE INC is seeking a Clearinghouse Coordinator to help mobilize the churches in our county to assist those in need according to the Love INC Ministry Model.
