WELCOME TO FIRST HULL: Welcome to worship, as we pray: Speak your word to us, Lord, as we are able to hear it. (March 4:33) A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement.

THIS MORNING we welcome Rev. Todd Zuidema as he leads our worship service.

THIS MORNING we will partake of the Lord’s Supper. The elders are offering communion packets to all professing members who enter the church. If you have not received one and are already seated, feel free to get a packet from the table in the back of church. The communion packet contains a wafer under a cellophane seal. This clear cellophane seal at the top must be removed first to access the wafer. To access the juice, peel back the second seal being careful not to squeeze the plastic cup. Point the tab away from you as you remove the seal. If you wish to do this prior to communion, you can keep the grape juice in the communion rack in the pew in front of you.

THIS EVENING Barry Miedema will lead our worship service. His message is from Matthew 5:1-12 titled “Blessed Are the Meek”.

COUNCIL MEETING: Newly elected office bearers are requested to attend the Council Meeting on Monday at 8:00p when the election of a President, Vice-President, Clerk and Vicar will take place. The organizational meeting will take about 15-20 minute.

OFFICE HOURS; For the summer months, I will be in the office starting at 9:00a on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. If you need assistance and I am not in, you can leave a message on the answering machine or if it is something that needs immediate attention, call my cell phone 712-578-1835 or 712-475-3094. -Karen

CHILDREN’S CHURCH TEACHERS AND HELPERS NEEDED: Please prayerfully consider being a part of this exciting children’s ministry in our church! We would love to have you share your passion for the Lord by guiding our youth in worship and ministering God’s word to them during this critical time of spiritual development in their lives. Teachers are asked to sign up once every 5-6 weeks, and teaching materials will be provided. Helpers (upper elementary/high school students or adults) will be contacted by the teachers when needed. If you are interested, please contact Lynette Feenstra at 578-9383 by the end of June. This is definitely a fun and important way to invest in the youth of First CRC! All children 3 years old-2nd grade are invited to attend Children’s Church every Sunday evening in the church basement!

THE “SHARE” GROUP for widows and widowers will meet on Thursday, June 17, at 6:00p at St. Paul Lutheran Church. We will enjoy casseroles with sides for supper. Following our meal, we will play table games. Please consider bringing $5 to help cover expenses. Call Deanna Tiedeman (439-2229) or Pastor Aaron Deutsch (605-742-4469) with any questions.

HOPE HAVEN Annual Gospel Sing Benefit will be held on Friday, June 18, beginning at 1:00p and Saturday, June 19, beginning at 12:30p in Central Park in Sioux Center. Food available. Free will offering will be taken for Hope Haven. Rain Site: Dordt Rec Center.

THANK YOU I would like to thank everyone who has blessed me with cards, prayers and many other special ways. I am very thankful that I don’t have to have surgery. Please pray with me that my arm may start healing a little faster. I am very thankful for all the many acts of kindness and love that my amazing church family has shown me! -Sandy Starkenburg

THANK YOU to my church family for all the prayers, cards, well-wishes, food, visits, and gifts for my husband, John, while he was in the hospital and after his death. A special thank you to Pastor Kotman and Pastor Ouwinga, Elders Larry Wielenga and Dave Rozeboom and Deacon Ryan Bolkema and my care group and the lunch ladies after the service for all of their concerns. I am grateful and thankful for each one of you. Above all, we thank our Heavenly Father for all his blessings. -Betty Bolkema and family

THANK YOU to those who helped prepare the meal at the banquet and to those who helped serve. Thank you also to those who contributed toward the cost of the meal. It was appreciated!  -The Evangelism Committee

We extend our Christian sympathy to Rick and Hilary Van Hill and family in the passing of Rick’s dad, John Van Hill of Pasco, Washington. John passed away on Friday, June 4. May God comfort this family in their time of sorrow.

Lou Krommendyk fell on Monday and was admitted to the Sheldon Hospital. She was able to return to the Christian Retirement Home on Wednesday.

Prayers are requested for Todd Warntjes, son-in-law of Glenda & Larry Oolman and husband of Heidi. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer several months back. Doctors are going to perform a delicate surgery on Monday to remove a tumor from his spine.

Continue to keep Carol Reekers in your prayers. Pray that the immunotherapy treatments will be effective and bring healing.

Sandy Starkenburg met with the doctor this past Monday and she is very thankful that she will not need to have surgery on her arm. Give thanks for the healing experienced thus far and give Sandy patience as she deals with needing to continue to wear her sling and not being able to use her arm as she would like.

Pray for our shut ins: Aspen Heights: Joyce De Vries, Wilma Grevengoed, Ella Mae Vande Burgt, and Goldie Veldman; Sheldon Care Center: Julianne Kats, Belle Draayer; Christian Retirement Home: Lou Krommendyk, Johanna Van Surksum; Royale Meadows in Sioux Center: Ed Scholten. Darlene Kroese, Jo Westra; Sioux City: Ardelle Westra.

We rejoice with Dash and Amber De Groot who welcomed their son, Dallas, on Wednesday, June 2.

Cade Broek and Jordyn Marra were united in marriage on Friday, June 4. We wish them God’s blessing on their marriage.

We rejoice with Nathan Ver Meer and Lindsey Zuidema as they were united in marriage on Saturday, June 5. May God bless their union!

Please be in prayer for Jennifer Steiger as she recovers from hip surgery. They were unable to find a physical reason for the pain she has been dealing with, so prayers for recovery and pain relief are appreciated.

Please be in prayer for Ken Vander Plas, father of Kristi Ten Pas, as he recovers from a triple bypass surgery. His condition deteriorated last week, but after switching medications the family is hopeful. Dialysis seems to be helping, but he remains in a medically induced coma.

Pray for Leo, son of Greg and Jasmine Boer. He continues to recover from his surgery with good progress and the leak in his esophagus is healed. We praise God that he is starting to gain weight and pray especially for a blood clot in his leg to go away. (updates on caring bridge) We pray for the Boer family as they deal with travel back and forth and are often separated.

We pray for our council, guest pastors, and the search for a new pastor.

We pray for those who worship from their homes. May they be filled with hope, and feel included as members of Hope.
