WELCOME TO FIRST HULL Living always in the joy of the Resurrection, let us join hearts and voices to praise the Living Lord! A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement. 

GREETERS: When you are scheduled to greet and if that Sunday does not work for you, please find a replacement. If you are unable to find one, please call a member of the Evangelism committee.

CHOIR will be rehearsing this Sunday morning at 8:50a in the youth building. We will be singing Across the Lands.

THIS MORNING we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper together. You are welcome to join us at the Lord’s table if you are truly sorry for your sins, sincerely believe in the Lord Jesus as your Savior and desire to live in obedience to him. Gluten free bread will be available in the center section of each try.

THIS EVENING Pastor Loren’s message is from Jonah 1:1-3 titled “Running Away from God”.

VBS VOLUNTEER MEETING is this Sunday, June 2, at 5:00p at First Reformed Church. We will do a quick run through the schedule for the week and then be ready for the kids to arrive around 5:30p. If you have any questions, please contact Rachel Bolkema, Ashley Hulstein or Jessica Pollema.

VBS registration will be at 5:30p on Sunday, June 2. Bible School will start at 6:00-8:30p Sunday, June 2, through Thursday, June 6. Supper will be served Monday, June 3, through Thursday, June 6, from 5:15p-5:45p.

PASTOR LOREN will be gone from Tuesday, June 4, through Tuesday, June 11. In case of a special need call your Care Group Elder.

SUMMER OFFICE HOURS: I will be in the office on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00a-3:00p. If you are in need of something and I am not in, feel free to leave a message or call my cell phone (712) 578-1835.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: The second mailing of a letter promoting the 100th Anniversary celebration of Western Christian High School is in need of volunteers to help with stuffing and labeling envelopes. The plan is to work on this mailing at 9:00 AM on Monday, June 3, at Western. If you can help, please contact Linda Kroese at (712) 439-2159) or mlkroese@gmail.com.

ON TUESDAY, JUNE 11, we invite you all to enjoy the Relay For Life of Sioux County in Hawarden at the Community Center Gazebo. Our Relay will begin at 5:30p with all invited to enjoy supper! (Free will donation appreciated). Survivors are welcome to come and register, get their 2019 Survivor Pin, a T-shirt, and enjoy a free meal. Relay Opening Ceremonies will begin at 7:00p and Luminaria will be lit at dusk. In between, we will have fun games, songs, activities and community fun while we fight cancer together! In Hull, Luminaria bags can be purchased at Lewis Drug, American State Bank and Iowa State Bank. Thank you for your support!

THANK YOU to those who helped prepare the meal and to those who helped serve at the Banquet last Wednesday. Your help was greatly appreciated! We served 426 people. The cost of the meal and milk is approximately $1100. If you have not contributed toward the cost of the meal you still can. Place your check in Karen’s mailbox.

COMMUNITY BULLETIN

FIRST CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS:   

We extend our Christian sympathy to Ed & Noella Haveman, Eric & Alysia Haveman and Jon & Nicole Van Berkum and families and to LuAnn, Matt & Josh De Wild in the passing of Noella & LuAnn’s father, Adrian Van Hofwegen on Tuesday. Funeral services were held on Friday.

Jarvis De Wild will have six weeks of radiation and chemo starting in June. He will most likely have surgery at a later date. Pray for Jarvis and Shari during this time.

Gerald Kroese continues as a resident at Pleasant Acres and is now under hospice care. Continue to remember him in your prayers.

Give thanks that recent tests for Wilmar Pollema yielded results that can be treated with medication. Continue to remember Wilmar in your prayers. Pray for strength and healing.

Continue to pray that Russ Vander Schaaf will get stronger as he anticipates surgery on June 13. At this point doctors are planning a less complicated surgery.

Give thanks that Gary Roetman is gaining and that his vision is improving. Continue to remember him in your prayers.

HOPE CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS: 

We keep Julie Horstman in our prayers as she continues her recovery from a broken leg. Please pray for her healing, encouragement, and patience.

We express our sympathy to Cal and Kathy Van Dr Zwaag and family in the passing of Cal’s mother, Marylin. Her funeral was held yesterday.  May the Lord grant them his comfort and hope.

Gerrit Van Der Zwaag, father of Cal Van Der Zwaag, continues his recovery at Sanford Hospital. We pray for daily healing and progress. We remember the Van Der Zwaag family as they support their parents.

Lucas Van Lingen, son of David and Gina Van Lingen, was hospitalized this week with pneumonia. We are thankful that he was able to return home on Thursday.

We express our sympathy to Cal & Ruth Hoekema in the passing of sister-in-law, Barb Hoekema, 72, of Grand Rapids. Her funeral was held this past Thursday. May the Lord provide his strength, comfort, and encouragement.

We pray for those dealing with illness or continuing their recovery from surgery. We also pray for those who may be struggling emotionally. May God provide healing and wholeness.

We remember Marv Boon at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City. We also remember those who reside at home but aren’t able to join us from week to week. We also pray for their families as they support them.

SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

      HCS is accepting applications for a part-time paraprofessional. The position will require working with students and assisting a teacher in the classroom. THE NAMI SUPPORT GROUP will meet on Tuesday, June 4, from 7-9p at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Individuals and family members coping with mental illness are welcome.

HOPE HAVEN will be holding its Annual Fishing Benefit at Lake Francis Case, Ft. Randall Dam on Fri., June 7, rain or shine. Registration is $60 which includes evening meal, entry gift & eligibility for weigh-in prize categories. All proceeds will benefit Hope Haven. Registration is due by June 6. PRAYER MEETING: You are invited to a monthly community prayer meeting with a global focus on Wed. June 5, from 7:30-8:30p at 1st Ref. Church in Sioux Center. We’ll join together as churches in Sioux County to pray with a different global and local focus at each meeting. The global focus of June’s meeting will be Guatemala and the local focus will be the Hope food pantry.  Future gatherings will be on the 1st Wednesday of each month.

HULL HABITAT HOME DEDICATION will be Sat., June 8, at 11:30a to give thanks for His blessing on this home and the Van Lo family. The home is located at 1713 6th St. in Hull. Lunch will follow a short program and everyone is welcome!

HOPE HAVEN’S 24th Annual Gospel Music Festival will be held at Central Park in Sioux Center on Friday & Saturday, June 21&22. There will be continuous music from 1:00-9:30p on Friday and from 11:00a-9:30p on Saturday. Currently 20 different groups from 5 states are scheduled to sing! The Gospel Music Festival is a benefit for Hope Haven and freewill offerings will be taken each day. A lunch stand will be open both days. In case of inclement weather, the Music Festival will be held at the Rec Center on the campus of Dordt College.

CORNERSTONE PRISON CHURCH Faith Fellowship Weekend: Friday, July 12, 6:00-7:45p & July 13&14, 7:15a-4:00p each day. The theme for the weekend is “A Closer Walk with Christ” based on Colossians 2:6-7. “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught and overflowing with thankfulness. Join us for worship, large group talks and small group discussions. The deadline for signing up is Sunday, June 23. We would be happy to have you join us for part of the weekend or all of it.
