FIRST CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH

June 25, 2017

WELCOME TO FIRST HULL We make gods of many things, but the psalmist declares, “There is none like you among the gods, O Lord” (Psalm 86:8 NRSV). Welcome, as we worship the one true God! A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement.

THIS MORNING we will install our newly elected elders (Dan De Wit, Ed Haveman, Larry Hoekstra, Don Krommendyk) and deacons (Noah De Yager, Justin Te Slaa, Dave Van’t Hul). We thank the elders (Harlyn Bolkema, Henry Kats, Darren Van’t Hul, Rob Westra) and deacons (Kyle Bolkema, Dan Fedders, Brad Kats) who will be ending their term on June 30th. We also give thanks for those who willingly had their names placed up for nomination.

JUST A REMINDER that our church is in charge of the visit to Pleasant Acres today. We have a speaker and pianist but welcome special music. Our senior citizens especially enjoy watching young children sing. If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity to help make someone’s day, contact Tim Kats at 712-578-9238 or show up at 2:00 today at Pleasant Acres!

THIS EVENING Pastor Loren’s message is from Acts 3:11-26 titled “A Call to Repentance”.

AN IMPACT (Tip) NIGHT will be held at the Hull Pizza Ranch on Monday, June 26, from 5:00-7:30p for Eldon & LuAnn DeWild to help defray the costs associated with Eldon’s medical condition. Please come out and support them. Checks should be made out to the church. Modern Woodman will match the total donations up to $2500.00.

THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE of council will be meeting to assign committee chairmen and members of the various church committees. If you no longer wish to be on a committee or if you would like to be on a committee, please contact Harry Meendering or Dave Kroese by June 29th.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION Faith Promise forms for 2017-18 should be returned to Seth Oostenink’s mailbox as soon as possible!

CLOTHE A CHILD: The church is again doing this project for Love, INC. We have taken 2 children this year and each one has 6 tags. You may take 1 or more tags and purchase the gift(s). Put the tag and the gift together, along with a gift receipt, and return the item(s) to church and place under the mailboxes. They must be returned to church by JULY 21st!

LUKE & FIONA DE KOSTER will be in Hull the end of July. They have found a house to rent but are in need of a few items: a washing machine (doesn’t need to be new or beautiful and we don’t necessarily need a dryer), beds, pots/pans and assorted cooking things and towels, pillows, etc. We hope to borrow/return these things so we don’t have to store them. You can email Luke at goodbye10x@gmail.com or talk to his parents (John & Glenda) jgdekost@gmail.com with any questions/suggestions.

THANK YOU: We would like to express our gratitude for the items and gift cards given to us in the grocery basket. It will be a great help in the first while as we are getting settled in Ames. We look forward to visiting the congregation throughout the coming years! Thanks again, Carter & Jodi Pollema

THANK YOU for all the prayers, cards, visits, food, and phone calls after my recent fall. A special thank you to Pastor Loren & Norma, and Elder Tim & Ruth Kats for their visits and to Care Group 6 for their “Get Well” gift. It is truly a blessing to belong to a caring church. God bless each one of you.

Thanks so much, Joyce VanderWell
