FIRST CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH

WELCOME TO FIRST HULL God is rich in mercy, loves you greatly, makes you alive through Christ (Eph. 2:4-5) and welcomes you to this time of worship and fellowship. A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement.

PLEASE NOTE: On Sundays, for security reasons, the doors automatically lock at 9:30 AM and 6:00 PM. If you come after that time, come to the SE doors and someone will let you in.

THIS MORNING we celebrate the Lord’s Supper together. You are welcome to join us at the Lord’s table if you are truly sorry for your sins, sincerely believe in the Lord Jesus as your Savior and desire to live in obedience to him. Gluten free bread will be available in the center section of each tray.

THIS EVENING we welcome Pastor Tim Ouwinga as he leads our worship service. His message is from Mark 9 titled “Following Jesus:  Glory and Suffering”.

THE COUNCIL is seeking nominations for Elders and Deacons. If you feel called to serve or know of someone you believe is well equipped for these positions, please put nominee names in the mailbox of Glen Scholten or Rob Westra by Monday evening, March 14th. The Council asks that you pray for God’s guidance as we go through the nomination process.

MISSION GUILD will meet on Tuesday, March 15, at 7:00p. Please note change of date!

PUBLIC PROFESSION OF FAITH for Jade Van Meeteren, fiancé of Nate Boer, is scheduled for next Sunday morning, March 20.

THE “SHARE” GROUP for widows and widowers will meet on Thursday, March 17, at 6:00p at St. Paul Lutheran Church. We will enjoy a potluck meal of appetizers. Following our meal, we will be treated to a musical program presented by the Middleburg Men’s Quartet. Be sure to bring $5 to help cover expenses. Call Deanna Tiedeman (439-2229) with any questions.

GUIDING STAR SIOUXLAND is excited to announce our new class! The Wonder of Myself! This mother-daughter workshop is an invitation to begin the conversation about puberty, cycles, hormones, and relationships. Girls aged 12-16 are invited to attend with their mother or female guardian/mentor. This one-of-a-kind class promotes respect and appreciation for fertility with an emphasis on chastity. COMMUNITY BULLETIN

FIRST CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS:

We extend our Christian sympathy to Aletha Vande Griend and family in the passing of her brother, Andy Brummel, of Williamsburg, IA (formerly of Hull). Andy passed away on Monday, February 28. A memorial service will be held in April.

We extend our Christian sympathy to Nelvina Kroese in the passing of her sister-in-law, Iva (wife of Ed Elbers) who passed away on Tuesday in the Luverne Hospital.

Continue to remember Kyle and Janae Vander Schaaf and their unborn child in your prayers. The echo on February 25 showed no change. The doctors have given them a date for a planned delivery.

Pray for Berdena Bylsma as she is now under Hospice Care. Pray for relief from pain and that she is comfortable.

Give thanks for ongoing progress for Carver and Maddox Kooima. Pray for continued growth and development. Call Travis or Megan before you stop by.

Pray for Russ Vander Schaaf as he continues with cancer treatment. Pray for strength, energy and healing.  

Continue to keep Rick Van Hill in prayer. Pray that the treatments are effective. Pray for healing.

Amanda Wiersma is scheduled for surgery on her left eye on Tuesday, March 15. Pray that the surgery goes well.

Pray for Dan Soodsma, son of Pete and Helen. He is scheduled for heart surgery at Avera Heart Hospital on Monday, March 14.

HOPE CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS:

Pray that those in our community who are sick will recover quickly and without lasting effects. We especially think of the effects of Covid and influenza and how widespread it is becoming yet again. May we make wise decisions to help slow the spread of germs.

Please pray for McKenzie Roorda (Kaylee Hulstein’s sister in WA) as she will be going in for a long-awaited back surgery this week Tuesday. Prayers of thanks that she is able to have the surgery and prayers that the surgery will be successful.

Please continue to keep Loren Van Otterloo in your prayers as he continues with radiation treatments.

We pray for those who worship from their homes. May they be filled with hope and feel included as part of our church family.

SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

   Western Christian High School/Spring Society Meeting will be held on Monday, March 14, at 6:00p. We will gather in the LMC at Western. Our Head Administrator, Mr. Verwolf, will share a State of School Report which includes staffing and program updates for the upcoming school year, and beyond. Lastly, as a society, we have an opportunity to approve the annual budget for the 2022-2023 school year.

DORDT UNIVERSITY WIND SYMPHONY invites you to a concert at 7:30p on Friday, March 18, in the auditorium. This free concert is part of a spring tour with performances scheduled in Missouri, New Mexico, California, Colorado and Iowa.  The Wind Symphony will perform a wide variety of repertoire.
