WELCOME TO FIRST HULL: Some people said to the disciple Philip, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus” (John 12:21). We are here because we too wish to see Jesus. Open your heart: Jesus is here. Welcome. A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement.

WE WELCOME Pastor Todd Zuidema as he leads our worship services today.

CHOIR: Calling all past, present, and future choir members – WE NEED YOU! We will be rehearsing our 2 Easter songs on March 29 after the morning service in the sanctuary. If you have been a choir member in the past, currently are one, or only dream of being one-this is YOUR chance!! Hope to see you there!

REMINDER! The Christian Ed Auction & Supper (Concession Stand featuring pulled pork sandwiches, pizza, chips, popcorn and beverages) is scheduled for Wednesday, March 31st beginning with supper at 5:30p. Have you thought of an item that you can contribute toward the auction? Some suggestions might include baked goods, home décor, dinners, clothing apparel, toys, gift certificates, game night, etc. Give Lisa Kats a call (441-5642) with your donation and she will get your item on the list. Watch for a list of contributed items in your church mailbox. Reminder to each family with kids in school to bring some kind of baked goods (bars, cookies, puppy chow, etc.) to sell at the concession stand. Let’s make this a fun/exciting night for everyone!

ADVANCE NOTICE: Our church is responsible for the service at the Sioux Falls Gospel Mission on Wednesday, March 31st at 7:00p. Meet in the West parking lot at 5:30p to car pool. Care Group #1 is encouraged to attend.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will begin on Sunday, June 6 through Thursday, June 10, from 6:00p-8:30p at the First Reformed Church in Hull. Supper will be served for those attending (freewill donation). You can register online: https://forms.gle/Y93foL91dqyfc8Uz6 or send your fee ($10 per child) to the First Reformed Church at 911 2nd St., Hull, IA 51239 or you can place it in Ashley Hulstein’s church mailbox. Registration due by May 1.

COMMUNITY BULLETIN

FIRST CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS:

We extend our Christian sympathy to Mary and Don Krommendyk in the unexpected death of a sister-in-law, Carol Smit of Omaha, who died on Friday, March 12. Carol was married to Mary’s brother Jim. We also extend our Christian sympathy to Betty and Dave Vande Griend in the passing of Betty’s brother, Gerald De Bey of Sioux Center who died on Saturday, March 13. May God comfort these families in their sorrow.

Ron Techen was admitted to the Sioux Center Hospital Tuesday night due to difficulty breathing. Pray for healing.

John Bolkema is now at Royale Meadows in Room #702. Pray that John adjusts well to his new living arrangement and pray for Betty during this transition.

Give thanks that John Scholten is getting stronger. Pray for other health challenges that John is dealing with.  

Jacoba Rens was able to return to Royale Meadows on Sunday, March 14. She will be seeing her hip doctor on Friday the 19th. Pray that her hip is healing good.

Pray for Dave Kroese as he continues to recover from back surgery (lumbar fusion).

Continue to remember Carol Reekers as she receives treatments. Pray for wisdom for the doctors as they treat her and for healing for Carol.

Continue to keep Lindsey Pfingsten in prayer as she recovers from her surgery. Pray for healing.

Jarvis De Wild is on hospice care. Please pray the Lord takes him quickly. He is so ready to be with his Lord and Savior. Pray for Jarvis, Shari and the rest of the family. Call Shari (470-4259) before you visit.

Pray for all those in this congregation and beyond who are struggling with Covid.

Remember all those in our congregation who are confined to their homes as well as those in nursing homes or in assisted living as they are unable to have visitors at this time due to COVID-19. This is a difficult time for them so a phone call or a note from members of the congregation would be appreciated!

HOPE CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS

We remember Jerry Van Roekel’s father, Gerald, as he deals with health issues. Pray for healing and strength.

Pray for Cody Bauer’s mom as she recovers from a stroke. We pray for her healing and that she might regain her abilities.

Please pray for those who recently had surgery. Remember them as they recover.

Please remember Sarah Fykstra and her family as she recovers. Pray for radiation treatments to work well as she looks forward to treatment in a few weeks.

We remember Leo, son of Greg and Jasmine Boer. The procedure to fuse the gap in his esophagus happened on Tuesday and he remains sedated as the magnets fuse together.

We continue to pray for those who are affected by Covid-19 or other illnesses.

We pray for our council, guest pastors, and the search for a new pastor.

We pray for those who join us in worship from their homes. Whether they are unable to attend or are taking appropriate precautions due to age or illness, we pray for the Lord’s presence and care in their lives.

SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

   Updated list of job opening at HCS:  There are several openings for the 2021-2022 school year. HCS is accepting applications for a part-time first grade teacher (teach in the morning), full-time first grade teacher, middle school language arts teacher, part-time para-professional, part-time librarian and athletic director. There is potential to combine some of these part-time positions into full time. Applications can be found on our webpage (www.hullchristian.com) or by contacting school.    Hull Christian School Carry-Out Supper: HCS will be hosting a carry-out pulled pork supper this year to replace our annual Hostess Supper Fundraiser. It is Wednesday, March 24, from 5:00-7:00 PM. It is a free-will donation. Pick up will be in the airlock on the west side of the HCS Building. The funds from the supper will be used for new science tables in the discovery room and a new bottle filling drinking station. Delivery will be available for those who are unable to pick it up and who live in Hull. Let us do the cooking for you!

ROYAL FAMILY KIDS CAMP NWIA is looking for volunteers for our 2021 camp. This camp has touched every heart that has ever entered it (campers and volunteers)! God has always provided for this camp through churches and in miraculous ways. The dates for the 2021 camp are August 2 through August 6. DORDT MUSIC DEPARTMENT: The Joan Ringerwole Organ Recital Series presents concert organist Ken Cowan in two upcoming events: 1) Masterclass on “Dance Forms in the Solo Instrumental Music of Johann Sebastian Bach” on Friday, March 26 at 3:00p in the auditorium and 2) Organ Recital on Sat. March 27, in the auditorium. Regarded as one of North America’s finest concert organists and praised for his dazzling artistry, impeccable technique, and imaginative programming by audiences and critics alike, Ken Cowan maintains a rigorous performing schedule that takes him to major concert venues in America, Canada, Europe, and Asia. His performance at Dordt is part of the Ringerwole Organ Recital Series, which is currently in its eighth year. The performance is free and open to the public. Masks are required for those attending and seating groups will be socially distanced. Dordt continues to monitor how COVID-19 affects our campus and community. Siouxland Habitat for Humanity is accepting partner family applications for our homeownership program for future homes in Hawarden and Hull. HABITAT SPONSOR A STUD! Gather your friends, family, church group, business, etc. to sponsor one or more 2x4 studs for $50 each to help build the Habitat House in Hull! We will deliver the stud(s) to you, so you can decorate it with Bible verses, encouraging words, prayers, pictures, etc. The decorated studs will be framed into the house, and everyone will be invited to a Stud Finder Open House later on to see  the studs and pray for the project. There are over 350 studs for the house, and we’d love to see them all decorated with love! TIMOTHY LEADERSHIP TRAINING (TLT) Would you like to grow in “Caring for God’s People”? This spring, the first segment of TLT is being made available via Zoom. Suitable for elders, deacons, or general followers of Christ, this training uses personal goal setting to foster development.
