FIRST CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH

March 29, 2020

WELCOME TO FIRST HULL Jesus promised Martha and us: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live” (John 11:25, NIV). Let us worship our Savior.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Pastor Loren will begin a class on April 19 during the Sunday school hour for those who would like to make profession of faith. Let Pastor Loren know if you are interested (712-449-5222) or pastor@hull1stcrc.com.

FROM THE CHRISTIAN ED COMMITTEE: Our church will again be mowing Hope Cemetery as a fundraiser for Christian Education this coming summer. We are looking for a few more volunteers to help with mowing. If you like to be outdoors and love the smell of fresh cut grass, please contact Dennis Vande Griend or Jay De Wit to help out.

FROM THE DEACONS: The events which have unfolded in our world have forced many changes upon us. Just as we have changed the way we meet together for worship, we must also find new ways to collect Tithes & Offerings. The church continues to have ongoing commitments that must be met for the General Fund, Building Fund, Missions, Benevolence, Christian Education & Special Offerings. Anyone wishing to make a donation can currently do so two ways: 1) Personal checks may be mailed to:  Attn. Deacons, Hull First CRC, 1121 5th St., P.O. Box 803, Hull, IA 51239. Please do not mail cash donations. 2) Make use of Bill Pay through your personal bank. If you already have an online account set up with your bank, you can send a donation right from your bank’s website. The church will then receive a cashable check in the mail. Please include in the memo which account or cause you would like your donation directed to. Any unspecified donations received will be directed to the General Fund. Any questions, please contact Ryan Bolkema or Eric Zomermaand

THANK YOU: Brett & Kaleigh want to thank the congregation for the meals and treats that were given to them after the birth of Cambrea. It was very appreciated!

WALL OF NEEDS: Check out the bulletin board next to the church mailboxes to see how you can donate supplies to VBS this year. Simply grab a slip of paper and return the listed donation to church. They can be placed in the baskets at the back of church.

VBS VOLUNTEERS: We are needing volunteers to help with Vacation Bible School to help it run smoothly. Those interested in helping (junior high age and older) are asked to sign up on the sheet in back of church. (Please note that although VBS is starting on a Sunday again this year, you do not have to miss evening church to attend. Students and helpers are welcome to start their VBS experience on Monday as well). This year we are going to serve a small meal beginning at 5:00. We are asking for about 4-5 ladies to help out with that on Thursday, June 11. Please note that on the sign-up sheet if you are willing to help serve the meal. Any questions, please contact Rachel Bolkema, Jessica Pollema or Ashley Hulstein.

VBS REGISTRATION: Climb aboard for Rocky Railway – Jesus’ Power Pulls Us Through. Hull Vacation Bible School is Sunday, June 7, through Thursday, June 11, from 6:00p-8:30p every night. There will be small program Thursday, June 11, at 8:30p. The meal for the kids attending and volunteers will be served from 5:15p-5:45p Monday through Thursday. You can register online this year at https://forms.gle/uVqcCE4rVsarUGWm7. Registrations are due May 1.

A NOTE FROM THE RUNIAS: As we all know the events in the world have necessitated many changes to our lives and schedules. Consequently, our upcoming April trip to Papua New Guinea was postponed until the end of the summer or until overseas travel is permitted. Also, please pray for Connie as she broke her ankle on the 21st of March, and because of all the virus precautions, her surgery couldn’t be scheduled until March 30th. Thank you for your prayers, Lauren & Connie
