WELCOME TO FIRST HULL Welcome to worship, Christian education and fellowship in the name of Jesus, the savior of the world. A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement. 

THIS EVENING we welcome Rev. William Van Der Heide from the Ocheyedan CRC as he leads our worship service as part of a post-classical exchange. Pastor Kotman will be leading the worship service at First CRC in Orange City.

REHEARSALS for the Community Easter Cantata “It is Finished” will be Sundays at First CRC at 4:00p! ALL voices, High School age and older, are welcome to join us!! The performance will be held on Easter evening at 6:00p at First CRC.

NOTE CORRECTION: Annual Day of Prayer will be commemorated on Wednesday, March 9, at HOPE CRC at 7:00p. Rev. Zuidema will bring the message.

POWER POINT could use one or two more people to set up power point and one more person that would be willing to run power point during services. There will be a meeting after church on March 13 to show any interested people how easy setting up power point is and how simple our program is to use during services.

THE COUNCIL is seeking nominations for Elders and Deacons. If you feel called to serve or know of someone you believe is well equipped for these positions, please contact a council member before March 14. The Council asks that you pray for God’s guidance as we go through the nomination process.

BAPTISM: Art & Anna Dirksen have requested the sacrament of baptism for their infant daughter, Rebecca Ann. Baptism will take place next Sunday morning.

FOR ANY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT considering professing their faith, Pastor Loren will be offering a pre-confession class in the near future. Please let him know if you are interested.

LADIES interested in helping at Justice for All on Tuesday, March 9, should meet in the upper parking lot at 12:45 to car pool. Questions, call Joyce Vande Griend or Carol Vis.

COLLEGE/CAREER BIBLE STUDY will be meeting next Sunday, March 13, at 7:15p in the Youth Building. Contact Curt Van Grouw (451-8272) with questions.

ADVANCE NOTICE: The annual Cadet-o-Rama will again be held in the Rock Valley clubhouse and bus barn on March 23. All Cadets and their families are invited to attend. There will be a derby race (weigh-in is from 6:30-7p with races starting at 7p), an archery competition, a marksmanship competition, and a craft. There will NOT be an outlaw race this year, but there WILL be a concession stand with tavern, popcorn, hotdogs, pop, and candy available.

Congratulations to Jon & Nicole Van Berkum on the birth of a son, Cohen Jesse, on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

Henry Brinks was discharged from the swing bed program at the Rock Valley Hospital and is now a resident at Whispering Heights in Rock Valley.

Keep Jeanette Boogerd in prayer. She is currently at Pleasant Acres (Room 101) due to fracturing her hip. Pray for relief from pain and healing.

Remember Nell Brunsting in your prayers. She now resides at Pleasant Acres. Pray for continued strength and healing. 

Give thanks that Joyce Kroese has completed her chemo treatments. Pray for continued strength and better health.

Alberta Vander Wilt’s health is declining. She is under hospice care. Pray that Alberta would be comfortable. Pray for peace and comfort for Marvin and family.

Continue to pray for Gary Roetman as he receives chemo and diabetes treatment.

Pray for our shut ins: Audrey Jongetjes, Florence Kroese, Gert Zevenbergen, and Melvin Van Otterloo at Pleasant Acres; Wilma Altena and Anthony Smit at Aspen Heights, Don Westra in his home; Marvin & Alberta Vander Wilt in Sioux Center; and Ardelle Westra in Sioux City.


We continue to remember Joan Buyert and Deanne De Jong as they recover from their recent surgeries. We pray for their continued recovery.

In the next few weeks, Eldoris Dykstra anticipates moving closer to her son, Cordell, who lives in Aurelia. Please pray for her during her transition. Please pray for her also as she sees doctors for care for her eyes as well as her heart.

We also continue to remember our members who reside in care facilities: Hermina Hulstein and Mary Grooters at Pleasant Acres and Harriet Kooiker at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City. We also pray for their families as they support them.


   HCS will be having an informational night and registration for Little Blessings Preschool the evening of March 22, from 6:30-7:30p. Mrs. Boer will be making a presentation at 7:00p regarding the daily activities of preschool. You can pre-register using the form found on our webpage ( under the heading Forms and Documents. This pre-registration form will be posted on March 15 at 9:00a. Please submit your pre-registration form through e-mail (, mail or by dropping it off at the school office. MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) will be meeting on Wed., March 9, from 9:00-11:30 at Trinity CRC in Rock Valley. Childcare is provided at the meetings and anyone is welcome to join or attend a meeting at any time!

JOIN SIOUX CENTER HEALTH for a seminar on the do’s and don’ts when connecting with a person with memory loss. Communication is more than just talking and listening – it’s also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions and body language. Families need new ways to connect. The seminar will be held on Friday, March 11, from 1-2p at Royale Meadows West Community Room by Jeanne Steinkamp, Program Specialist at the Alzheimer’s Association. Refreshments will be provided! ARE YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW in need of a safe, decent and affordable place to live? JUSTICE FOR ALL will be partnering with Touch of Hope Ministries out of Rock Rapids to lead a trip to Simonette, Haiti. We will be going March 31-April 8. We’re hoping to build a home while we’re there so if you have skills that pertain to building/carpentry/cement work that would be a plus but is definitely not necessary!
