WELCOME TO FIRST HULL A warm welcome to all!  May you experience the love of our good Shepherd, Jesus, and share it with others throughout the week.

FROM THE DEACONS: The events which have unfolded in our world have forced many changes upon us. Just as we have changed the way we meet together for worship, we must also find new ways to collect Tithes & Offerings. The church continues to have ongoing commitments that must be met for the General Fund, Building Fund, Missions, Benevolence, Christian Education & Special Offerings. Anyone wishing to make a donation can currently do so three ways: 1) Personal checks may be mailed to:  Attn. Deacons, Hull First CRC, 1121 5th St., P.O. Box 803, Hull, IA 51239. Please do not mail cash donations. 2) Make use of Bill Pay through your personal bank. If you already have an online account set up with your bank, you can send a donation right from your bank’s website. The church will then receive a cashable check in the mail. Please include in the memo which account or cause you would like your donation directed to. Any unspecified donations received will be directed to the General Fund.  3) An offering drop box has been set up next to the mailboxes in the back of the church. Any questions, please contact Ryan Bolkema or Eric Zomermaand

OFFERING SCHEDULE: The offering for today, May 10, is the Christian Ed Fund and May 17 for the Benevolent Fund.

VBS ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we regretfully announce that the VBS Directors have made the decision to cancel our 2020 VBS. We are disappointed, but look forward to seeing you in 2021! Be on the look out on the Hull Vacation Bible School Facebook page the week we were suppose to have VBS for some activities or even a song or two. If you have sent in a check for registration, we will return that check to you. The offerings received will be used for the 2021 VBS. Thanks for giving! If you have any questions, please contact Rachel Bolkema, Ashley Hulstein, or Jessica Pollema.

THANK YOU: I would like to thank everyone for all the many special acts of kindness shown me through this very long swallowing issue that I have been dealing with! All of your prayers, cards and gifts and food have really blessed me. Thanks to my Care Group for the beautiful plant. Above all I thank my heavenly Father for His healing mercies. I am overwhelmed by all of the love and support I receive. It truly humbles me! May God bless all of you!                                                                                                                               -Sandy Starkenburg

We extend our Christian sympathy to Dori De Jong and family in the unexpected passing of Dwayne De Jong very early Friday morning, May 1. Dwayne was also a brother-in-law to Glenda Oolman and Donna & Rob Fedders. May God comfort all those who mourn his passing.

Dori De Jong’s procedure to remove a kidney stone is schedule for Wednesday. Pray that she will be comfortable until then and that the procedure will go well.

Give thanks that Dennis Kroese continues to improve. Pray for God’s blessing on the physical therapy and for complete healing. He hopes to have his knee brace removed by May 15.

Sandy Starkenburg had a post op check up on Monday. The doctor is pleased with the progress that she is making. Pray for a complete recovery.

Remember all those in our congregation who are confined to their homes as well as those in nursing homes or in assisted living as they are unable to have visitors at this time due to COVID-19. This is a difficult time for them so a phone call or a note from members of the congregation would be appreciated!

Give thanks Lois Salazar received a good report from the doctor. She began immunotherapy on Monday. Pray for no side effects and for continued good reports.

Diane Bonestroo was transferred from the Sioux Center Hospital to the hospital in Sioux Falls on Friday, May 1, and had surgery the next day to remove an infection. She had a second surgery on Tuesday, May 5, to remove more infection. Continue to pray for healing. She was hoping to be released from the hospital on Thursday.

Please remember Larry and Marcia Hoekstra’s brother-in-law, Roger Dykstra from Grandville, Michigan. He continues to be a patient in the hospital following surgery for a brain bleed. His condition is serious.  Pray for healing.

Continue to remember Jewel Hofman (niece of Susan De Yager) in your prayers as she has been diagnosed with cancer. She began chemotherapy in Iowa City last week.

Gary Roetman was admitted to the hospital in Omaha on Tuesday. The doctors have removed fluid from his lung and are waiting for a pathology report. Give thanks that he is breathing more easily. Pray for wisdom for the doctors and better health for Gary.

Pray for our shut ins: PA: Verne Huisman, Chuck & Darlene Kroese; Aspen Heights: Joyce De Vries, Wilma Grevengoed, Harry Klay, Goldie Veldman; Whispering Heights: Sally De Groot; Sheldon Care Center: Julianne Kats; Rick Rozeboom’s home: Esther Rozeboom; Sioux City: Ardelle Westra.

Please be in prayer for those who have been affected in so many different ways by the COVID-19 crisis. We think of those who are sick and those who care for them. We pray for those who have been economically impacted. We remember all whose routines have been interrupted and we pray that the Lord’s sovereign care will overcome any anxiety.
