WELCOME TO FIRST HULL  Welcome to worship and Christian fellowship! Please greet one another in Christ’s name. A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement. 


OUR  YOUNG PEOPLE will be leading our worship service this morning.


THIS MORNING we will be recognizing our graduates. Grade school graduates are Marcus Te Krony, Colin Westra and Anna Zomermaand. Those graduating from high school are Zachary De Jager, Mariah Jansma, Kerrigan Kats, Carter Pollema, Kelli Te Slaa and Jacob Westra. Our college graduates are Josh De Wild, Mark Drent (unable to attend), Jane Kroese, Carly Rozeboom (unable to attend), Ross Te Slaa, and Kyle Westra.


AFTER THE MORNING SERVICE we will be voting for Elders and Deacons. Drawing of lots will take place at the evening service. The following are nominated for Elder (vote for 6 and 3 will be elected): Lynn Anderson, George Heynen, Gerald Jansen, Tim Kats, Dave Kroese, Galen Kroese, Harry Meendering, Ted Salazar, Dave Snieder. THIS EVENING Pastor Loren’s message is from Nehemiah 2:11-20 titled “A Vision for a Great Work”.


BAPTISM: Matt and Bethany Bosma have requested the sacrament of baptism for their daughter, Quinn Olivia. Rev. Klompien will officiate at the baptism and bring the message Sunday morning, May 24th.


NEXT SUNDAY EVENING the Community Memorial service will be held at the community building at 6:00p. Pastor Loren will bring the message.


MEMBERSHIPS RECEIVED: The communicant memberships of Justin and Cindy Te Slaa have been received from the United Reformed Church in Rock Valley. The communicant membership of Matthew Schultze has been received from the Grace Lutheran Church of Le Mars. Welcome to our church family!


PROFESSION: Zach De Jager, Mariah Jansma, Kerrigan Kats, Carter Pollema, Kelli Te Slaa and Jacob Westra met with the elders recently to profess their faith in Jesus Christ. Public profession of faith is scheduled for Sunday morning, May 31.


A DRIVER/LEADER has been found for the girls traveling to the Burlington, ON Canada Service Trip this summer. Your prayers in this matter are so appreciated! God Bless!


VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Our church is scheduled to serve the evening meal at the Banquet in Sioux Falls on Tuesday, May 26. We need 40 people to help service the meal. A signup sheet is on the narthex table. If you haven’t already done so, please put your donation toward the meal in Karen’s mailbox or bring to her office as soon as possible! (Make checks payable to First CRC).  –The Evangelism Committee

  • Give thanks that surgery went well for Sherry Brummel. Give thanks also that the cancer was not in her lymph nodes. Pray for God’s healing mercies and for better health for Sherry.

  • Continue to keep John Bolkema in your prayers. Pray for healing and return to full strength..

  • Jeanette Boogerd was able to return home last week after a stay at Pleasant Acres following hip surgery. Pray for continued strengthening.

  • Congratulations to Eric & Bobbie Kroese on the birth of a son, Noah John, on Friday, May 8th.

  • Congratulations to Matthew & Kait (Scholten) Schultze on the birth of a daughter, Gracen Joan, on Saturday morning, May 9th.

  • Congratulations to Grant & Jodi (Leusink) Scholten who were united in marriage on Friday, May 15, at Montgomery Bell State Park in Tennessee.

  • Congratulations to Kyle and Becca Te Slaa on the birth of a daughter, Maxine Marie, born early Tuesday morning.

  • Jim Oostenink had outpatient Rotator Cuff surgery on Tuesday. Give thanks that surgery went well. Pray for healing.

  • Sandy Starkenburg is scheduled for outpatient surgery on Wednesday for planter fasciitis. Pray that the surgery will give her relief from pain.

  • Russ Vander Schaaf continues outpatient hyperbaric therapy to prevent more bleeding. Pray for good results.

  • Continue to keep DeAnn Timmermans in your prayers. Pray for relief from pain and healing.

  • Pray for continued strength and healing for Joyce Kroese.

  • Keep Gary Roetman in your prayers as he continues his chemotherapy. Pray for continued strength.

  • Continue to keep Sam Scholten in your prayers as he serves in the military.

    Pray for our shut ins: Audrey Jongetjes, Florence Kroese, Gert Zevenbergen, and Melvin Van Otterloo at Pleasant Acres; Wilma Altena at Aspen Heights, Don Westra and Nell Brunsting in their home; Tena Pollema and Marvin & Alberta Vander Wilt in Sioux Center; Elmer Raman in Rock Rapids, and Ardelle Westra in Sioux City.


  • Art Van Otterloo underwent open heart surgery to replace a valve as well as a procedure that will help keep his heart from going out of rhythm. He will be hospitalized for the next few days and hopes to come home sometime this week. We pray for healing, strength, and peace for Art and family during this time.

  • We keep Kristen and Tim Vande Griend, of Chino, CA, a sister and brother in law of Cacey and Matt DeKam, in our prayers. Kristen was in the last few days of her pregnancy when she noticed that something was not right. After a visit to the hospital, the doctor was unable to find a heartbeat. We express our sympathy to the family as they mourn this loss. Please keep Cacey and other family members in your prayers as they travel to California to support their sister. We pray for God’s comfort and peace.

  • We keep Gene & Nella Driesen in our prayers. We pray for Gene’s health and strength.

  • We continue to remember our members who are in care facilities: Dick Dykstra and Mary Grooters at Aspen Heights. Ann Dykstra at Pleasant Acres and Harriet Kooiker at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City.


          Western will hold its 93rd commencement on Tues., May 19, at 7:00p in the gymnasium. Everyone is cordially invited to attend.

          Western is finishing up their spring drive. If you would still like to make a donation to the drive, you can give it to your board member or send it to the school before the end of the school year. Thanks you for your generous support of Western Christian.

          HCS invites you to attend the graduation of our fourteen 8th grade students on Wednesday, May 20, at 7:00p at the Hull 1st CRC. Pastor Bob Pollema will be giving the address.

          The last day of school for Western will be May 22. There will be a noon dismissal.

          The summer office hours at Western will be Monday through Thursday from 8:00a-1:00p.

          HCS is accepting applications for three paraprofessional positions needed for the 2015-2016 school year. The paraprofessionals will be working with students in the lower elementary classrooms. Applications can be found on our webpage or by contacting school.  Applicants should contact Principal Randy Ten Pas at 439-2273 or email with any questions.



    MEN & WOMEN are invited to the Brunch at the Rock Valley Senior Center in Whispering Heights on Wed., May 20, at 9:15a. Brunch is $4.00. Terry Kooima will be the “Military” feature; Beth Kats will provide music. The message is “Trials, Troubles, and Triumphs” by Judy Jones. Reservations necessary; call Winifred at 470-5549.


    THE “SHARE” GROUP for widows/widowers will meet on Thurs., May 21, at 6:00p at the HOMESTEAD COMMONS in Hull. There will be a catered meal followed by a Travel Africa program. Cost of the catered meal is $7.50 per person. Call in your reservations to Pastor Katie (470-4195) or Deanna (439-2229) by May 18. 


    CENTER FOR FINANCIAL EDUCATION is having its 2nd annual “Swing for the Green” Golf Outing on May 22 at the Ridge Golf Course in Sioux Center. Please join us by bringing a team or we can put you in a team. Cost is $95 which includes lunch, dinner and everyone will receive a prize. Call 722-3527 to sign up.


    RUN, WALK & ROLL – You are invited to walk, run or roll in your wheelchair for a great cause at the 10th annual event at Village Northwest Unlimited. There will be a 5K, 10K run, and a 1 mile walk/roll event on Sat., June 6, beginning at 8:00a.     ALL AREA CRC MEMBERS are invited to join the delegates to Synod 2015 in worship at the synodical Service of Prayer and Praise on Sunday, June 14, at 4:00p at 1st CRC in Sioux Center. Rev. Mark Verbruggen will deliver the message.


    SAVE THE DATE: Bible League International Volunteers Minn-Ia-Kota Retreat on Tues., Sept. 15, at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Invite a friend and plan to come to a unique retreat designed to glorify God through great music and speakers, and to renew and uplift all who attend.
