FIRST CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH

May 17, 2020

WELCOME TO FIRST HULL In the words of the psalmist: “Bless our God, O Peoples; let the sound of his praise be heard” (Psalm 66:8).

FROM THE DEACONS: The events which have unfolded in our world have forced many changes upon us. Just as we have changed the way we meet together for worship, we must also find new ways to collect Tithes & Offerings. The church continues to have ongoing commitments that must be met for the General Fund, Building Fund, Missions, Benevolence, Christian Education & Special Offerings. Anyone wishing to make a donation can currently do so three ways: 1) Personal checks may be mailed to:  Attn. Deacons, Hull First CRC, 1121 5th St., P.O. Box 803, Hull, IA 51239. Please do not mail cash donations. 2) Make use of Bill Pay through your personal bank. If you already have an online account set up with your bank, you can send a donation right from your bank’s website. The church will then receive a cashable check in the mail. Please include in the memo which account or cause you would like your donation directed to. Any unspecified donations received will be directed to the General Fund.  3) An offering drop box has been set up next to the mailboxes in the back of the church. Any questions, please contact Ryan Bolkema or Eric Zomermaand

THANK YOU to everyone who supported me and my family in the passing of Dwayne. The food, flowers, memorials, cards, calls, the food and flower from Care Group 1, the Sunday afternoon people who drove by or walked by and all the prayers. It was awesome and greatly appreciated! COMMUNITY BULLETIN

FIRST CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS:

Ÿ  Noah and Susan De Yager and family will be moving to Rock Valley this week. We are grateful to God and them for all the ways that they have blessed our lives and served in this church. We wish them God’s blessing as they begin this new chapter in their lives.

Ÿ  We extend our Christian sympathy to Chuck and Darlene Kroese and John and Joyce Kroese and all who mourn the passing of their brother-in-law, Harry Klay on Monday evening.

Ÿ  Remember all those in our congregation who are confined to their homes as well as those in nursing homes or in assisted living as they are unable to have visitors at this time due to COVID-19. This is a difficult time for them so a phone call or a note from members of the congregation would be appreciated!

Ÿ  Give thanks Dennis Kroese continues to improve. He hopes to finish physical therapy in the next couple weeks.

Ÿ  Give thanks that the procedure to remove a kidney stone for Dori DeJong went well on Wednesday.

Ÿ  Diane Bonestroo continues to recover at home. She receives a daily antibiotic infusion. Pray for continued healing.

Ÿ  Please remember Larry and Marcia Hoekstra’s brother-in-law, Roger Dykstra from Grandville, Michigan. He continues to be a patient in the hospital following surgery for a brain bleed. His condition is serious.  Pray for healing.

Ÿ  Continue to remember Jewel Hofman (niece of Susan De Yager) in your prayers as she has been diagnosed with cancer. She began chemotherapy in Iowa City last week.

Ÿ  Continue to pray for Gary Roetman. The procedure he had on Monday to drain fluid is not producing the desired results as quickly as they had hoped.

Ÿ  Jo Westra’s daughter Ardelle, a resident of Courage Homes in Sioux city, has tested positive for Covid 19. At this time it appears to be a mild case. Please remember Ardelle and Jo in your prayers.

Ÿ  Pray for our shut ins: PA: Verne Huisman, Chuck & Darlene Kroese; Aspen Heights: Joyce De Vries, Wilma Grevengoed, Goldie Veldman; Whispering Heights: Sally De Groot; Sheldon Care Center: Julianne Kats; Rick Rozeboom’s home: Esther Rozeboom; Sioux City: Ardelle Westra.

HOPE CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS

Ÿ  Please be in prayer for those who have been affected in so many different ways by the COVID-19 crisis. We think of those who are sick and those who care for them. We pray for those who have been economically impacted. We remember all whose routines have been interrupted and we pray that the Lord’s sovereign care will overcome any anxiety.

Ÿ  Please be in prayer for Pastor Todd that he will feel better soon and for Leah and the family as they provide support. Pray for healing, encouragement, and perseverance.
