FIRST CHRISTIAN RE FORMED CHURCH

WELCOME TO FIRST HULL “My peace I give you,” says Jesus. “Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27, NIV). As we enter into worship, I invite you to share the peace of Christ with one another. A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement. 

GREETERS: When you are scheduled to greet and if that Sunday does not work for you, please find a replacement. If you are unable to find one, please call a member of the Evangelism committee.

THIS EVENING is the COMMUNITY MEMORIAL SERVICE at 6:00p at the Community Building. Pastors from our community will be leading the service. Join us as we give thanks to God for our nation as well as to those who gave their lives in the service of our country. Pastor Loren will be bringing the message from Matthew 5:13-16, “Doing Our Part”.

NEXT SUNDAY we will partake of the Lord’s Supper. Let us use this week to reflect on the Lord’s great love for us and pray that this may bring us to respond in joy and obedience. Anyone who is home bound and would like to partake of communion should contact Larry Wielenga (541-9036) or Ed Haveman (441-2907).

LAST SUNDAY the following were elected to the office of Elder: Merlyn Kroese, Glen Scholten Dave Te Slaa. Those elected to the office of Deacon were: Matt Bosma, Kyle Pollema, and Eric Zomermaand.

PROFESSION OF FAITH: Amanda Wiersma met with the elders last Sunday night to profess her faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Public profession of faith is scheduled for Sunday morning, June 16.

THE BANQUET: We are serving the evening meal at The Banquet on Tuesday, May 28. If you haven’t already done so, you may still donate $10 toward the cost of the meal. Checks should be made out to the church and placed in Karen Bruxvoort’s mailbox.

LADIES/MEN who are able to help out at JFA on Tuesday, May 28, may meet in the upper church parking lot at 12:45p to car pool.

UNION GOSPEL MISSION: Our church is responsible for the service at the Gospel Mission on Wed., May 29. Please meet in the lower church parking lot at 5:15p to car pool.

VBS HELPERS: There will be a meeting for all VBS helpers on Sunday, June 2, at 5:00p at First Reformed Church. If you signed up to help, please be there to get your station assignment and class list. If you have any questions, please contact Rachel Bolkema, Ashley Hulstein or Jessica Pollema.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: The second mailing of a letter promoting the 100th Anniversary celebration of Western Christian High School is in need of volunteers to help with stuffing and labeling envelopes. The plan is to work on this mailing at 9:00 AM on Monday, June 3, at Western. If you can help, please contact Linda Kroese at (712) 439-2159) or mlkroese@gmail.com.

LOVE INC is again doing the “Clothe-A-Child” project. Each child receives 1 shirt, 1 pair of jeans/leggings/athletic pants, 1 pkg. of underwear, 1 pkg. of socks and 1 pair of tennis shoes. Each child has 5 tags and you are able to pick as many tags as you would like. Please call Karen (439-1626) or email her at hull1crc@mtcnet.net if you are willing to help with this project and how many tags you would be willing  to take. COMMUNITY BULLETIN

FIRST CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS:   

Congratulations to Grant & Julia (Jares) Vanden Bosch who were united in marriage on Friday evening. May God bless them with many happy healthy years together.

We extend our Christian sympathy to Evan & Shondra Wielenga and family in the passing of Shondra’s father, Darrell Noteboom, on Saturday morning, May 18. Give thanks that Darrell’s journey with Alzheimer’s has ended. Pray for comfort for his loved ones.

We extend our Christian sympathy to Aletha Vande Griend, Tyler Vande Griend and other family members in the passing of Duane on Monday evening. The service was held on Friday. May God comfort them in their sorrow.

Heath Stoker had a check up in Sioux Falls this past Monday, May 20. His doctor is very happy with where his numbers are and does not plan on changing his treatment plan at this time. Please praise God for good results and that no follow up is needed for 3 months.

Jarvis De Wild will have six weeks of radiation and chemo starting in June. He will most likely have surgery at a later date. Pray for Jarvis and Shari during this time.

Gerald Kroese fell last Sunday.  He is back at Pleasant Acres. Continue to remember him in your prayers.

Give thanks that surgery went well for Pete Pollema on Monday. Pray for healing from the surgery.

Give thanks that recent tests for Wilmar Pollema yielded results that can be treated with medication. Continue to remember Wilmar in your prayers. Pray for strength and healing.

Continue to pray that Russ Vander Schaaf will get stronger as he anticipates surgery on June 13. At this point doctors are planning a less complicated surgery.

Gary Roetman is getting stronger. Pray that he will be able to do things on his own and continue to gain strength. Gary and Susan are very grateful for your faithful prayers, cards, calls, food and visits! They give praise and thanks to God for answered prayers and healing.

Remember Belle Draayer in her ongoing challenges in life.

Remember Pastor Loren and Norma’s daughter, Maria, in your prayers. She has not been feeling well lately because of health issues. Please also remember their daughter-in-law Katy and her ongoing struggles with her health.

HOPE CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS: 

Julie Horstman underwent surgery this week to repair her broken leg. She will be recovering over the next few weeks. Please pray for her healing, encouragement, and patience.

Gerrit Van Der Zwaag, father of Cal Van Der Zwaag, is breathing on his own without aid of a ventilator. We pray for his continued progress and healing. Cal’s mother, Marilyn, has been hospitalized in Rock Valley with an infection. Please pray for her recovery as well. We remember the Van Der Zwaag family as they support their parents.

Lyla Boer has been able to return to Aspen Heights.

We pray for those dealing with illness or continuing their recovery from surgery. We also pray for those who may be struggling emotionally. May God provide healing and wholeness.

We remember Marv Boon at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City. We also remember those who reside at home but aren’t able to join us from week to week. We also pray for their families as they support them.

SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

      HCS is accepting applications for a part-time paraprofessional. The position will require working with students and assisting a teacher in the classroom. PRAYER MEETING: You are invited to a monthly community prayer meeting with a global focus on Wed. June 5, from 7:30-8:30p at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center (160 10th St. SE, enter through NE doors). We will join together as churches in Sioux County to pray with a different global and local focus at each meeting. The global focus of June’s meeting will be Guatemala and the local focus will be the Hope food pantry.  Future gatherings will be on the 1st Wednesday of each month and will be hosted and led by members of various local churches.

HULL HABITAT HOME DEDICATION will be Sat., June 8, at 11:30a to give thanks for His blessing on this home and the Van Lo family. The home is located at 1713 6th St. in Hull. Refreshments will follow a short program and everyone is welcome!

CORNERSTONE PRISON CHURCH Faith Fellowship Weekend: Friday, July 12, 6:00-7:45p & July 13&14, 7:15a-4:00p each day. The theme for the weekend is “A Closer Walk with Christ” based on Colossians 2:6-7. “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught and overflowing with thankfulness.
