WELCOME TO FIRST HULL: Welcome on this day of Pentecost! May we be open to the Holy Spirit’s movement among us.

FROM THE DEACONS: The events which have unfolded in our world have forced many changes upon us. Just as we have changed the way we meet together for worship, we must also find new ways to collect Tithes & Offerings. The church continues to have ongoing commitments that must be met for the General Fund, Building Fund, Missions, Benevolence, Christian Education & Special Offerings. Anyone wishing to make a donation can currently do so three ways: 1) Personal checks may be mailed to:  Attn. Deacons, Hull First CRC, 1121 5th St., P.O. Box 803, Hull, IA 51239. Please do not mail cash donations. 2) Make use of Bill Pay through your personal bank. If you already have an online account set up with your bank, you can send a donation right from your bank’s website. The church will then receive a cashable check in the mail. Please include in the memo which account or cause you would like your donation directed to. Any unspecified donations received will be directed to the General Fund.  3) An offering drop box has been set up next to the mailboxes in the back of the church.

OFFERING SCHEDULE: The offering for today, May 31 is for Resonate Global; Next week: Mission Fund.

THIS MORNING we will be voting for Elders and Deacons at the end of the service. Absentee ballots should be put in an envelope with your name on the outside and put in Larry Hoekstra’s mailbox by May 31st. Drawing of lots will take place on May 31st. The following have been nominated for Elder (4 needed–vote for 8): Dave Vande Griend, Lee Van Grouw, Galen Kroese, Rob Westra, Henry Kats, Ken Leusink, Harlan Mouw, Randy Westra, Kevin Driesen, Rod Te Krony, Darren Vant Hul, Dave Snieder. The following are nominated for Deacon (3 needed–vote for 6): Cory De Wit, Travis Veldman, Kyle LeLoux, Jon Scholten, Curt Van Grouw, Jon Van Berkum, Ryan Kroese, Rick De Groot, Andrew Hoekstra.

FROM THE CHRISTIAN ED COMMITTEE: We had a successful online sale last month and our summer fundraiser, mowing and trimming at Hope Cemetery, has begun! Thanks to all those who have continued to support Christian Education over the past few months. We have just over a month left in our fiscal year and need to collect $39,000 to meet our financial obligations for Hull Christian and Western. Help us finish the year strong and meet our goal!

THANK YOU for cards and prayers said on Ardelle’s behalf. Also, thank you to God for healing Ardelle.

                                                                                                            With Christian love, Jo Westra

THANK YOU: I would like to thank Rev. Kotman, Elder Haveman and Deacon Zomermaand for all their calls through my long ordeal. Thank you also for all the food, cards, and calls. Thank you to my Care Group for their care and concern. Above all, we thank our Heavenly Father for His healing. May God bless each and everyone of you.  -Howard & Marilyn Grevengoed

THANKS to all those from this congregation who made masks for Covid-19. 180 masks were made for Avera. 55 masks were made for Hope Haven.

Al and Jacoba Rens recently moved to Aspen Heights. Pray for them as they adjust to a new home.

Give thanks that surgery went well for Sharon Soodsma on Wednesday. The electrodes that were inserted earlier were removed. Pray for complete healing. Sharon will go back in two weeks for a follow-up visit.

Remember Sally De Groot in your prayers as her health continues to fail.

Pray for Pete Soodsma in his struggles with Parkinson’s and depression.

Give thanks that the procedure to remove the stent went well for Dori De Jong on Wednesday.

Continue to keep Bennett Bruxvoort in your prayers as he continues to recuperate from knee replacement surgery. Pray for relief from pain and healing.

Remember all those in our congregation who are confined to their homes as well as those in nursing homes or in assisted living as they are unable to have visitors at this time due to COVID-19. This is a difficult time for them so a phone call or a note from members of the congregation would be appreciated!

Diane Bonestroo continues to recover at home. She receives a daily antibiotic infusion. Pray for continued healing.

Continue to remember Gary Roetman in your prayers. Pray that the fluid will continue to lessen in his lungs so that the lung catheter can be removed. Gary has a meeting with the oncologist on Wednesday to talk about cancer treatment.  Pray for wisdom to know how to treat the cancer. Pray for relief from pain. Gary and Susan greatly appreciate your prayers.

Continue to remember Jewel Hofman in your prayers as she struggles with cancer. For ongoing up-dates you may check Caring Bridge.

Joyce De Vries was admitted to the Sioux Center Hospital on Thursday, May 21, with a bacterial infection. She was hopeful of being able to return to Aspen Heights on Friday, May 29.

Give thanks that Ardelle Westra has fully recovered from Covid-19 and that she is no longer quarantined.

Pray for our shut ins: PA: Verne Huisman, Chuck & Darlene Kroese; Aspen Heights: Joyce De Vries, Wilma Grevengoed, Goldie Veldman; Whispering Heights: Sally De Groot; Sheldon Care Center: Julianne Kats; Rick Rozeboom’s home: Esther Rozeboom; Sioux City: Ardelle Westra.

Please be in prayer for those who have been affected in so many different ways by the COVID-19 crisis. We think of those who are sick and those who care for them. We pray for those who have been economically impacted. We remember all whose routines have been interrupted and we pray that the Lord’s sovereign care will overcome any anxiety.

Please be in prayer for Gary Roetman, father of Matt Roetman. We pray for his continued healing, strength, and recovery. We pray for his wife, Susan, and family as they support him.

The week that local churches began live-streaming worship services was the week that Western Christian board members placed Spring Drive requests in church mailboxes. Spring Drive gifts are used for tuition relief and special needs at Western. As of this week we are grateful that over $50,000 has been donated to the Spring Drive towards our $90,000 goal. Many church members probably have not been picking up their mail from their church mailbox, but with churches opening up now we hope you will still make a gift to Western Christian. You can also make your gift electronically by clicking on and following the instructions given. The students, staff, and Board of Directors at Western thank you for your consideration.
