FIRST CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH

November 29, 2020

WELCOME TO FIRST HULL: Today is the first Sunday of Advent. We watch for Jesus’ advent, or coming, among us: his return on the last day, and his presence with us now.  A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement.

TODAY is the first Sunday of Advent. This year, there are children’s messages every Sunday leading up to Christmas like in year’s past, however, only certain classes will go up front for the children’s message each Sunday.  Today the 3&4-year olds (Beginners & Pre-K) will be invited to come up front for the message; Dec. 6: Kindergarten; Dec. 13: 1st & 2nd grade; Dec. 20: 3rd grade and Christmas Day: 4th grade.

SUNDAY SCHOOL/CATECHISM classes will not be meeting this morning.

THE SUNDAY SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM is scheduled for December 13 at 3:00p.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING will be held on Monday, December 14, at 7:30p.

THIS EVENING we welcome Ben Wiersma as he leads our worship service. His message is from I Peter 1:3-9 titled “Our Living Hope”.

NEXT SUNDAY morning we will partake of the Lord’s Supper. Let us use this week to reflect on the Lord’s great love for us and pray that this may bring us to respond in joy and obedience. Shut ins and those watching at home will need to purchase their own juice and bread. Elders will not be bringing the elements to shut-ins.

Professing members who participate in the Lord’s Supper at church will be asked to pick up a fellowship cup from a table in the back of church next Sunday morning prior to sitting down for the service.

THE EAST HALF of the sanctuary is designated as a social distancing area during services. Both East and West halves will be seated every other bench until full, at which point remaining people will be seated in empty benches on the West half.

GUIDING STAR OF ORANGE CITY will be holding an online auction on December 1, Giving Tuesday. Go to their website, www.guidingstarorangecity.org/online-auction/ to see the auction items. Bidding will begin at 12 am on December 1st and end at midnight. We are so thankful for your continued financial contributions as we Build a Culture of Life by supporting and educating women to understand, embrace, and love their natural bodies.

THANK YOU to the Sunday School children for the money you collected in the Peter Fish banks. You raised $576.14 for World Renews’ work to help hungry people around the world. -The Deacons

THANK YOU to Pastor Kotman and all of our church family who called while we went through Covid. It was a long journey. Thank you for all the cards, words of encouragement and all the delicious food we received. God is good and walks beside us each day. May God bless each of you for your kindness. -Howard & Marilyn Grevengoed

THANK YOU very much for all the cards and expressions of sympathy in the loss of our brother-in-law and uncle, LeRoy Jongetjes. We thank God that we are a part of the family of God at 1st CRC. -Orv & Arlene Vant Hul and family
