FIRST CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH

November 8, 2020

WELCOME TO FIRST HULL: Friends in Christ, it’s a joy to be with you today for worship! Please welcome one another with a sign of Christ’s peace. A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement.

THIS MORNING we have the joy of administering the sacrament of baptism to Carlie June Kiers, infant daughter of Cody and Shelby, and to Wyatt Glen Scholten, infant son of Jon and Bethany.

THIS EVENING Pastor Loren’s message is from Revelation 3:1-6 titled “Jesus’ Words to a Dead Church”.

PETER FISH will be collected next Sunday morning. Tubs will be set out in the narthex so the children can put their Peter Fish in prior to entering the sanctuary.

DID ANYONE EAT FOO-FOO FOR DINNER THIS WEEK? Not sure what it is? Read about it in your World Hunger devotional and find out. We will take a collection next week that will go directly to World Renew’s work with families like the ones you’ve met during your devotion time.

NOTICE: The East half of the sanctuary will be designated as a social distancing area during services. Both East and West halves will be seated every other bench until full, at which point remaining people will be seated in empty benches on the West half. Those who need to social distance due to age or health concerns are encouraged to sit on the East side. The back 7 benches on both sides are reserved for families with small children.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD brings hope and joy to kids worldwide through a simple gift-filled shoebox. Boxes are available under the mailboxes. There is a brochure inside the box with the gift suggestions and instructions. When you have filled the box, attach the label, which is on the brochure, indicating whether the gift is for a boy or girl and the age and tape it to the box. Filled boxes should be return to the church kitchen by Monday, November 16th.

SHARE GROUP: Due to continued concerns with COVID-19 cases in Sioux County, the SHARE group for widows and widowers will not meet in November or December. Pastor Aaron and Deanna will reevaluate the situation in January and hope our gatherings can begin at that time. Your patience and understanding are appreciated.

THANK YOU for all the ways that you have expressed your appreciation to us in Pastor Appreciation month. We are very grateful for your kindness and blessed to be a part of your lives. -Pastor Loren & Norma Kotman

THANK YOU: I want to thank my church family for all the beautiful cards and phone calls I received on my birthday. Thank you for helping make my day special. As I begin to make a new home at the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon, you are always welcome to come and visit over a cup of coffee. Your thoughtfulness and prayers are much appreciated. My new address is: 1414 Elm Ct., Room 125. -Lou Krommendyk

Betty Van Schepen, age 81, of Hull, passed away on Sunday, November 1, at her residence. She was an aunt to Angie Broek, Briana Roetman, and Emily Boer. We pray for the family as they mourn her passing.

We extend our sympathy to Lynda Keizer in the passing of her mother, Joanne Hofland, on October 31, due to Covid. Our prayers are with the Keizer family as Jim Hofland (Lynda’s father) continues to battle Covid along with diabetes and heart blockages.

We extend our sympathy to Jo Schiebout in the sudden passing of her husband, John Schiebout, Thursday morning, October 29. Jo is a sister to Kathy TeSlaa and Marj Hulstein.

We extend our sympathy to John Kooiker on the passing of his sister, Cynthia Lundberg, who went Home to be with her Lord on October 29 at age 87. She had been languishing for quite some time so it was God’s mercy that she left her earthly body when she did.

We rejoice with Devin Stetson & Lanae Van Middendorp as they were united in marriage on October 23.

We remember Marcus Masen (11-year-old nephew of Evan & Sarah Wiersma) as he fights lymphoma and goes through chemo treatments.

Pray for strength for Jan Bakker as she goes through chemo treatments.

We continue to pray for those who are recovering from Covid-19 or have family members that are dealing with this illness. We pray for their healing.

We pray for our families. Some have significant challenges in their lives for a variety of reasons. Let us pray for peace, stability, healing, and restoration.

We pray for those who join us in worship from their homes. Whether they are unable to attend or are taking appropriate precautions due to age or illness, we pray for the Lord’s presence and care in their lives.
