WELCOME TO FIRST HULL Welcome to worship this Labor Day weekend! May our time together strengthen us so we can serve God in whatever work we do. A nursery and quiet room are available in the basement. TV’s are available so that the service can be viewed. We invite everyone to join us for fellowship & coffee after the morning service in the church basement. 

 

THIS MORNING we will witness the baptism of Adley Rae Hulstin, infant daughter of Chris & Ashley.

 

THIS EVENING Pastor Loren’s message is from Acts 11:1-18 titled “A Lesson on God’s Guidance”.     

 

CHURCH PICNIC is Wed., Sept. 5, at 6:30p at Westside Park. Hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, dessert, paper products, and drink provided. Please bring a side to share. Games will be provided by the YPS. If you have a team Matt shirt wear it to the church picnic and we can try for some pictures to show our love and support.

 

CLASSIS HEARTLAND is scheduled to meet this Wednesday and Thursday at Northern Lighthouse CRC in Lincoln, Nebraska. Delegates from church are Pastor Loren and Elder Ed Haveman.

 

NEXT SUNDAY we will partake of the Lord’s Supper. Let us use this week to reflect on the Lord’s great love for us and pray that this may bring us to respond in joy and obedience. Anyone who is home bound and would like to partake of communion should contact Larry Wielenga (541-9036) or Ed Haveman (441-2907).

 

HULL 1ST CRC MEN’S GROUP, which meets on Wednesday evening, is looking for members to meet for an hour of discussion of God’s Word. Please consider this and contact Rog Vis so study materials can be ordered to accommodate the group’s membership. The men’s group meets every other week at the same time as the Mission Guild.

 

CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP members, past members, and eligible members: This year in Fellowship we will be doing a study again from the Ray Vander Laan video series “That the World May know.” We will watch a video followed by a discussion led by Larry Hoekstra. To start out the season of study, we will have a kick-off supper on Sunday, September 16, following the evening service at the Youth Building. Please bring a hot side dish or a cold side dish to share. Pork loin and buns as well as everything else will be provided. Please call Shari De Wild at 439-2993 or email her at dewildmom@yahoo.com if you would like to come or if you cannot come to the kick off, but would like to be involved with the study. HULL COMMUNITY COFFEE BREAK’S new season of small group Bible studies begins Wed., Sept. 19, from 10:00-11:00 at Hope CRC. Women of all ages and all denominations are welcome! Invite a friend and come for fellowship, coffee and maybe even a sweet roll. Our first week is a “get to know you social” and if you don’t have a book of Discover Colossians you can pick one up then. A nursery is provided for infants-2 year olds and a Story Hour for 3-5 year olds. So, come for fun, fellowship and diving into God’s Word and see what He has for you! (We do pre-register to have somewhat of an idea for the nursery, Story Hour and the small groups. CORNERSTONE PRISON CHURCH invites Hull 1st CRC to join them in worship on Friday, September 28. This is a CRC church located behind the walls of the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls. If you would like to attend this service, please contact Karen Bruxvoort at 439-1626 for the sign up forms. Forms must be turned in to Karen by no later than Sunday, September 9.

 

THE VALLEY MALE CHORUS is currently seeking new members to join the Chorus this Fall for their 46th season. The Valley Male Chorus is also actively searching for a new director. If you are interested in either position, please contact Ron Boote at 712-441-5225.

COMMUNITY BULLETIN

FIRST CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS:   

  • Give thanks that surgery to have a rod placed in his right leg went well for Duane Vande Griend on Tuesday. Pray for healing. Duane is thankful for all the cards, prayers, and well wishes.
  • Matt De Wild continues with rehab at Craig Rehabilitation in Denver. Pray for continued progress with the therapy. Pray also for LuAnn.
  • Pray for Vell Keizer who is scheduled for back surgery on Tuesday at Avera.
  • Continue to remember Heath and Kayla Stoker in your prayers. Heath had more tests done on Friday. Pray for good results. They are still waiting to hear about a next step. 
  • Continue to keep Lisa Wiersma in prayer as she continues with her second round of chemo. Pray for minimal side effects from the second round of treatment.
  • Give thanks that Donna Rens continues to recover from her recent surgery. She is grateful for your prayers.
  • Pray for our shut ins: Pleasant Acres: Sally De Groot, Florence Kroese; Aspen Heights: Joyce De Vries, Julianne Kats, Chuck & Darlene Kroese, Goldie Veldman; Fieldcrest in Sheldon: Verne Huisman, Esther Rozeboom: in her son’s home; Good Samaritan Society in George: Wilma Altena; Ardelle Westra: Sioux City.

HOPE CRC FAMILY PRAISE AND PRAYER CONCERNS:           

  • We keep Wilma Heynen in our prayers as she prepares for a new round of treatment. We pray for God’s encouragement and healing mercies.
  • Joan Buyert was admitted to the hospital earlier this week. We pray for her strength and recovery.
  • We pray for those who continue their recoveries from recent surgeries.
  • Cruise De Groot continues his deployment to the Middle East. Cruise’s parents will provide his address if you’d like to send him a note. You may also message him through Facebook. Please pray for his safety and encouragement.
  • We remember our members who reside in care facilities: Marv Boon at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City, and Evelyn Dykstra in Byron Center Manor in Byron Center, MI. We also pray for their families as they support them.        

 

SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

   All are invited to the Friends of Western Banquet on Thurs., Oct. 11, at 5:30p. The cost per meal is $10. Orlin Te Slaa, a 1976 graduate of Western, will share some of his thoughts about Christian education. There will be a recital by MaryLou Wielenga on the new Steinway Grand Piano donated to Western. JFA Annual Fall Auction & Picnic is Thurs., Sept. 6, at the JFA Ministry Center. We are planning a great evening of fun for the whole family! There will be a live and on-line Auction and meal.

NISO AUDITIONS: Auditions for membership in the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra will be held on Friday, September 7 (Winds & Percussion) and Saturday, September 8 (Strings). Anyone wishing to play in the orchestra for the first time must audition, and all student members need to re-audition each year. JOIN US FOR A CONCERT on the lawn at the Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center at noon on Sunday, September 9. Soul’d Out Quartet from Georgetown, Ohio will be performing. Please bring your lawn chairs or your blankets for an afternoon of Christian music. A freewill offering will be received. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the church.

KYIV SYMPHONY Orchestra & Chorus in concert on Tues., Sept. 11, at 7:00p in Dordt’s Auditorium. You will be touched by the high caliber music and truly amazed by their Christian faith testimony.
